Phoenix Statistics

Hello, I'm a long time lurker, apparently a few times poster.

I've been tracking and recording Phoenix statistics for some years now and have been the one behind most of the Wikipedia pages concerning the Wellington Phoenix (although I gave up on the season articles because other users took them over and made a mess out of them).

But that aside, here are two pages that you may find interesting:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington_Phoenix_F...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington_Phoenix_F...

The second link in particular is a good source for how we've fared against specific teams in the past.

They should all be up to date as of the Newcastle match but let me know if you find any errors. Also feel free to suggest additions if there is anything else you want to see in these pages.

Love those pages. Great resource. Thanks for all the effort involved.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Thanks for the great effort. I'm a bit of a data geek so it's the kind of thing I always like to keep track of too.

They are two awesome pages. A few talking points there for sure. Didn't Lochhead score 2 goals for us? One was against Perth at Westpac but not sure about the other if there was one.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

A few surprises there. Lochhead behind Manny and Lia in assists, for example. He definitely only got one goal LG.

Anyway, these pages are fantastic. Any chance of adding average points per game against each team, and minutes and minutes per game stats? I appreciate those last two might be a bit more difficult, but it was interesting seeing the goalkeepers cleansheets per game stats.

You know we belong together...

That was my first game in the Fever Zone I think, was a ballboy in preseason, around halfway for round 1 and edged my way over from there.

Coveny scored his only goal for the club in that game too.

Those stats are interesting. The only team we've really dominated are the Jets. We're basically even with Perth and West Sydney and ahead of Heart. Not counting two defunct teams, we've got some ground to make up on the rest.

Looking at our home form only (presumably counting games in Auckland, etc) we are just dominant over AU as well as Sydney and Perth, with improved records against the others.

Blimey!

13 March 2010 Preliminary Final vs dirty, cheating b@stard Bling in Blingsville... crowd 13,196

18 Feb 2011 Semi Final vs Pissants in Barreltown... crowd 10,285

30  March 2012 Semi Final vs Bling at ROF... crowd 10,019

Sad all round, but particularly in Blingsville.

Do you mean minutes each player played per game? All season pages (except for the current one) already has a table that shows this. Here's 2012/13's one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012%E2%80%9313_Wellington_Phoenix_FC_season.They include number of starts, subs (both on and off), injuries, suspensions, and minutes played for the season

our third all time goal scorer "can't score goals"

Also the hattrick curse is real, so many players with multiple instances of 2 goals in a match (20 total) and no hattrick yet.

Allegedly

So that last Adelaide goal was the 32nd to be scored in the final 5 minutes of all Phoenix matches. To put that into perspective, the next 5 minute period with most concessions is between the 66th and 70th minutes with 24. The average number of goals conceded in all 5 minute segments is 16.

We have already conceded three goals in the last 5 minutes this season.

I guess you are including injury time when you talk about these '5 minute periods' ? In which case the '5 minute period' with the most goals conceded in it actually lasts for 9 minutes or so most matches, so not surprising there's more goals conceded.

Not exactly. All (or most) of the goal times I've used have been from the Ultimate A-League site which incorporates stoppage time into the times so that nothing is over 90 minutes. In other words, they stop the time when there is a stoppage, rather than letting it run like in the game. When compared to other sources, the goal times have mostly been slightly different to ones that include times such as 90+n.
