just watching TV1, there was a great ad, advertising the phoenix playing perth.
this is what were talking about, getting the phoenix brand out in the public eye on national free to air TV. Im sure its different in wellington where there may be ads in papers, billboards etc but for the rest of nz this is great to see.
big ups to the nix marketing.

just saw it too...bloody briliant apart from the fact most of the game highlights were of smeltz ;)

i expect they did scour the footage for alternatives

still, by the end of this season we should have a few more highlights that don't involve Smeltz

Such as that spell of goalmouth mess ups? Could have been worse, they could have shown "That Goal" from the Pie Man !!

I have to agree with AWB to some degree. My football illiterate GF, knowing that I love football, suddenly perked up and said "ooo, soccer!" once the gameplay clips started playing and didnt click it was the phoenix until I told her... I have since educated her somewhat...

I've just realised now that I'm in the wrong thread. I meant to post about the A-League ad.

Is this the one that's by the Wellington Tourist Board (or whatever it's called)?

There was also an ad on Stuff today with a link to them with ideas for places to stay that weekend etc, so it does seem they are trying!

I'm not sure if some kind of special offer should be made for the first game though? I know it didn't really work last season, but I think that was because it was too late...better to get people in the door early no?
