seriously?

he needs to be playing, he made a huge difference during the preseason. I reckon having Gao on the pitch gives Daniel so much more room and time to create things.

No... not seriously.  It was an extention of my Primadonna comment earlier.  Suggesting a lack of spine.  To be fair, it was a bit harsh.

No Covs? Thats a massive call, wonder if he is carrying a niggle. He seriously looked like the only one with any heart last week

Nope, he's on oranges. A massive call , and a good one would have been to bring in Costa.

If Covs is on oranges then costa is on planting the orange trees.

LOL, we will never know what Costas got at this rate. Can't be any worse than the headless chooks on the field last week.

good to see Mully in the mix

agree Bopman - Covs certainly added something last week

at some point I wouldn't mind seeing what Troy could do playing off Smeltz or Covs

good to see Leo and Leilei back in the mix

I wonder how far off Timmo is?

According to the A-League preview of the game, Covenys been dropped and their isn't any injury. If that is the case, Kwasnik deserved to be dropped ahead of Coveny.

One to be omitted from squad, that'll be interesting too. Kwasnik? Hearfield? Plodder?

I want so desperately for the millionth Adelaide fan to be a Phoenix supporter...

So, do we start pressing the panic button if we can't pull off a win? Will a well-played draw suffice?

If he doesn't I'd direct him to Queensland (any one of the three teams from next year), even if it does leave a foul taste in my mouth.

Against Adelaide at Hindmarsh I'd accept a well-played draw, a win would be a very welcome overachievement. AU are a good side both in defence and attack even if they were a bit disorganised against the Clogs last week. They still only let one past them after all.

We'll need our midfield (especially the attacking players) to really close down their opposites and stifle their creativity and limit their chances  because even under pressure against Queensland they showed the ability to threaten the goal. A 0-0 draw would do me, frankly.

Call me out if I'm wrong!

I think the two new clubs have a "hands-off" rule for A League players with 6 months or more on their contract so this should just rule out Costa, but not Draper.  I think.

Thats FIFA rules for all clubs I believe,or is at least the standard rule in world football, and it goes for ALL clubs. When does Costa's contract run out?

Not til the end of 2010  2009 for Draper  But not positive of this

I hope we:
go back to playing 2 DMFs instead of the 1 of last week
and
have Daniel playing centre AMF rather than Left AMF

Draw would be an excellent result.

I'm fearing a 2-0 to Adelaide though. Would love to be wrong though.

Good news re Gao and Leo. Here's my XI:

                        Moss

Mulligan   McKain   Durante   Lochhead

          Ferrante      Johnson

Hearfield          Daniel            Gao

                         Smeltz

Bench:

Paston
Dodd
Bertos
Kwasnik

I worry that Hearfield will lose his place though, despite the fact that he has put in probably the best individual performance of any of our attacking wingers so far this season.

Also, I wonder how far off Tim Brown is from full fitness, I'd be very interested to see what he has to offer.

That is how I see the team lining up, possibly Gao and Bertos bracketed with the one who has recovered best from their injury starting and the other coming on later in the game

I don't think that the positioning of the Magic Three really matters as they are pretty much a roving trio who can swap around and try and confuse the opposition using that freedom

Magic three?? Did you see last weeks game? They are more likely to confuse themselves first. I really hope they use their brains this week no matter what  plan the coach comes up with.

they weren't playing last week homes

it's just a way of reffering to them all without repeatedly typing out the same names, also, I'm optimistic that they will be magic come kick-off tomorrow.

auskiwi - you decided to criticise to trio of Daniel,Gao, Bertos for their performance last week

cosimo then pointed out (indirectly) that two of three weren't on the park

you then decided to suggest that cosimo works in a circus

Well im saying he shouldnt be in the squad fullstop. Really dont c what he brings to the team??? When he comes on doesnt even make that much of a difference.
The nix really need to give some younger players a run and give them an opportunity.

Did you even watch last weeks match ?

Within seconds of coming on he put the ball two inches wide and changed the way Melbourne had to play and defend.
