Ricki back at training today, he said Paston will probably be in goal again and it'll be much the same lineup as against Sydney, though Ifill expected start and play 60-70 mins with Totori coming off the bench.

No-one's put out their starting line-up yet? Here goes.

Moss (assuming Paston will still be bung)

Leo Siggy Dura Lochhead

Ifill Smith Manny Fenton

       Stein Brockie

Bench: Spoonley/Basalaj, Totori, Lia, Boyd

Pretty much this. Two keys to unlocking the Roar in my view. 1) Manny to nulify Broich, which will mean he is playing slightly wider than normal and 2) Smith / Brockie / Stein effectively closing down Portaloo.

Easy!

Dont forget Berisha, and Nicholls, and .....
I'm more worried about Halloran against either of our wingbacks. Can't let them get in behind or they'll punish us for it (hehe innuendo (pronounced in-your-end-oh!))
But nah really I think we can pull one over them. Won't be easy. I hope to see a good performance from Totori off the bench. And I'd rather see Clarke on the bench than Lia but I guess you need a defensive option on the bench in case the worst happens, but even then... Boxall?

Interested to know what James Dean thinks of his beloved Ange getting pummelled and Roar kicking ass playing longer ball?

By the way I was at Victree training yesterday, and they were smashing each other in the 9v9. Allsopp was going to punch someone's lights out.

I thought Halloran was poor at the weekend.  Quick but poor first touch.

Kinda agree with this. Kept thinking he was being made to look better by a shit Victory, wont look as good against us.
We wont be giving them the space and time in front and behind the back four.
Optimism is traditionally not encouraged on this forum, but I'm feeling pretty good about Sunday.
Main worry is Leo but I think he can handle it. We'll probably double up on them on the wings like we always do. Should have enough support.

It may only be 13, but it feels like 14 out of the wind and in the sun..

Would it be the Wellington Phoenix without the wind and the rain ? It adds to the atmosphere and a who knows a slippery pitch might make the Roars passing game come unstuck

Bit concerned about Sunday. Have seen / heard sod all about the match, Egg Ball on Saturday and the Stock Cars kick off at 7.00 on Sunday night with a Caravan Derby.

fark i hate berisha, just wanna smash him in that ugly moosh

saw some highlights of the roar/victory game last night, berisha was just hanging offside until they stopped looking, then he'd sort of sneak into an onside position and wave for the ball over the top. Victory's backline were cack, they kept nodding off, got done time and again. We won't play a high a line and dura/siggy/lochead would never be that rubbish, I don't feel like we'll concede goals like those - victory's general rubbishness seemed to be the main contributing factor to that scoreline?

Agree with this, Thomas' performance in goal was pretty bad too.

Yeah you could place blame on him for 4 of the 5 goals If I remember correctly.

I kinda like this- not sure about Siggie having a rest.

442- with Totori and Fenton, and I'd have Clarke on the bench for Boyd. Ifill an impact sub. I think if we have Ifill on we will slow down the play, and at the moment our speed is quite good- however happy to be proved wrong. Also not sure how Fenton is going to go with the aspect of surprise gone.

Really would like to see Totori starting. I think he has the potential to be a surprise package and hurt some teams, and if the new guy is running you ragged and you know that Paul Ifill is still to come.

TBH I don't think Ifill has earned his start this year so far, and I think the players from the first game have earned the right to stay as the starting team.

Unless you play Ifill and Huysegems up front with Brockie out wide or on the bench...

I don't think Totori has done enough to start either. Wasn't impressed with his first game. I know that it's a big step from his previous level but he had a tendancy to dive or end up on his ass alot.

He's only played in the one! Give him a chance to do enough to start. He should get used to the physicality soon if Tahiti and the other Island teams are anything to go by. Lets not be too hasty. I don't really think we have a better alternative anyway, you'd be hard pressed to show Boyd or Clarke significantly better.

To be fair he's looking a bit Hernandez-esque; not exactly the fittest he's been (realise he was never super fit, but seems to be struggling a little at the moment) Only reason he played 90 against Heart was because we didn't have any other choice. Should play 60 min or come off the bench.
