it's a bit quiet today,

so here's my pick for the team v Newc, to try to rouse a few opinions

Moss
Rees, Dodd, Lochead
Elrich, Lia, johhno, ferrante,
felipe
smeltz, covs

Paston, christie, brown, Brownlie

to be honest i'm not sure about ferrante at left mid, but i wanted to get Old out of the picture until he improves his distribution

anyone got the word on injury concerns ??

Lochhead in back 3 is bad. I would keep Old/O'Dor there and leave Lochhead at wing back.

who's johhno?

agree with missing out Old

tigers I'd be happy to see that team on the park. If Elrich wants to get back in the socceroos, he'd better start taking advantage of these opportunities.

yomcat why do you say Locky in back three is bad?? reasons please! He is a lot better defender than Old or ODor, and thats what the job is, defending. We have to keep the Newc attack quiet. Its about time our bloody defence did that.

Lochhead was tried in a back three earlier in the season, and he didn't play very well at all. He was moved out to the left again, and his performance went straight back up.

You don't need to be in the back 3 to defend, as he showed last game against Kruse.

Also, Newcastle's attack is lacking nutpuncher, so it's either going to be someone showing they should be playing over him, or worse off.

agreed Yomcat, that Lochhead is more influential in a wide mid role or in a back four

but i'm not sure if O'Dor could slip in on the left, he was tried wide in a back four (v CCM from memory) and looked lost

the point in favour of Lochy wide mid is that Durante is out, so having someone to test his replacement would be good

agreed the should miss the bollock puncher, their next top scorers are Bridge and Adam G on 2 each

would be good to keep Lochy left mid (wing back) somehow. You really need a competent leftie for that role in order to provide plenty of crosses

My team for the match against Newcastle:

                                           Moss

                     Rees               Dodd             Old

                                           Brown

Elrich               Ferrante                   Lia                   Lochhead

                        Felipe
                                                      Smeltz

Subs: Paston, Christie, Barbarouses, Coveny

I'm not entirely sure that I'd start Elrich. Maybe it would shake him up enough so as for him to have a great second half to try and prove himself.

Robb, that Tauranga sun must be getting to you, cos I'm worried - as I look at that bench - that it would be hard to get a great performance from Elrich in the second half

on a more serious note, with Daniel away I guess Elrich probably will get a start

'scuse my ignorance, but does this mean the BB is no longer the meeting place for YF before games?

my understanding is that the four kings (venue formerly known as the fever lounge) is still the 'away' venue and the bencher remains the venue of choice home match pre-game whistle-wetting

One of these days, I'm going to do a lineup without the influence of heat, alcohol or caffeine/sleep deficiency

still BB of course. Their back-bat only + outdoor area will be open for the Sydney game

1. Mark PASTON (gk), 20.Glen MOSS (gk), 2.
Jeremy CHRISTIE, 3. Tony LOCHHEAD, 5.Karl DODD, 6. Tim BROWN, 8.Vaughan
COVENY, 9. Shane SMELTZ, 10.Michael FERRANTE, 12. Richard JOHNSON, 13.
Steven OLD, 16.Kristian REES, 17.Vince LIA, 18. Ahmad ELRICH, 19. Greg
DRAPER, 21.FELIPE. *one to be omitted

the squad might suggest a very similar line-up to the last few weeks, though you could also get 4-4-2 from it (let's hope Old has been practicing his distribution, if he is picked)

hopefully Aloisi will be available for Sydney - if he is it'll possibly/probably be his last home game for the Nix

i wonder what the story is with O'Dor?

Apparently Elrich has dental problems so is doubtful for Sunday but will travel...

hell, i hope it's not the same kind of dental problems as O'Dor had (just before he disappeared into the  'Bermuda Triangle')

if elrich can't play we might be pushed for width with daniel out as well (which could make his critics reconsider)

Interesting that Costa still misses out as well

Normo's coming home

be interesting to see if Draper gets a spot on the bench, if ricki starts with 2 up front then a bench without Draper would have no out and out attacking options available

Can you believe this result? Hopefully we'll see the same score again shortly!!

Costa is sh*te...

Hmmmmm....thats positive Chopper.  He's actually a very good player with great potential.  His time will come at this level and I'm sure he'll take some of the chances he'll be given next season after this years steep learning curve.

Went and watched the Sydney Adelaide game tonight at the 4 Kings and what a f**king setup they have.  Lazyboys all round and screens for Africa.  It's mint.  I'm moving in there.

Greene and I also threw away twenty bucks backing the draw and then that c**t Breeze sent off Cornflake for sod al.  w**ker.

See you all Sunday.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
