To clarify my earlier post...I was excited we have now totalled 9 goals for and 0 against at home in the last 10 days, hence 9-0

great result. had to bounce back after disappointing last outing

we did in that game- we won the second half. and could have put in a challenge. would have helped if we weren't down by so many...

good result in the end put to put a damper on things we should of killed them off way earlier! would of loved to see another rout, should have been really. would love to see game stats lol, great game from everyone again. MOM for was Lia. He really has been terrific in the engine room lately.

A-league website has us at 24 shots at goal and thier keeper making 11 saves. That is quite incredible.

Watching a pretty crap stream, but doesn't the guy running across the back of Brown clip his heel when he goes down? Not the person he was shoulder to shoulder with..
The defender hung his foot out there which why it looks like a pen. There was no contact and pulled his leg out. Brown taking two steps then going down never helps the cause when you plead not guilty to the FFA diving charge

Im pretty sure the defenders leg clips browns foot. ive watched the replay a number of times and to me its clear he is clipped. I dont think he dived.

But we are still a boring team to watch!!

Really good result for us...thought we were good value for the 3 points tonight.

Attacking-wise, we look really good, and it begs the question - do we even need Fred? There is plenty of depth, and Fred would only be 'walking' into the starting 11 based on reputation rather than form...because we have Daniel, Bertos, Caceres, Hearfield all playing pretty well.

Bring on Perth

good result. nice come back from last weeks .. effort.

i dont think we're boring to watch. In fact i think Westpac Stadium should charge for the whole seat, as you spend more time sitting on the edge... :P

Well Fred would be incredible as a marquee, who he slots in for I have no idea. I think we need a top striker as guest.

6 against a flagging Gold Coast, 3 against the bottom team. We are playing some solid football and the haters that say sack Ricki have finally shut up. Yeah we took our lumps against the league leaders (they are the leaders for a reason) but with the draws, I'd have to say that we are 'now' (not 2 weeks ago if you believed the hype) one of the harder teams to pinch goals off and take the W off of. If you are going to beat us, you are going to have to work bloody hard to do so.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Great game- proof that we weren't playing the balls to Greenacre, though he was making the runs...

ball to feet and great finish for that important second goal- super touch Costa.

and with Hearfield, Bertos and Caceres just itching to get in the mix you'd hope there would be plenty more goals out there.

Big concern with the cover in the defence and the centre of the park. Will we see Mulligan on the bench against Perth? though who do you drop. The bench is too small. The league would be better with a larger bench.

yep- I would only be happy as long as he was earning his spot- there are plenty of good in form players there- Hearfield is more a forward player as his goal shows than anything near a right back. Bertos is a fantastic player. Caceres is good too.

We need cover at the back and in the centre of the park...

So many options in attack now goals could come from so many different players very exciting.

Fred as a long-term marquee would be better than him being only a guest player. Looks like we need defensive cover more than anything else.

Must be getting close to having the longest unbeaten streak at home. Anyone know the record?

We have 12, pretty sure its 14.

Bloody exciting stuff! Good have been a few more as well, hopefully the crowd builds for sunday. Defence was a bit worrying at times though.

Great stuff Nix.

Pleased to see Dura back out there after half time, seemed OK in the second half.

Costa a great assist and a brilliant thru ball, generally value up front.  Go that 442, brings Greenacre into the game and allows Ifill to play every-bloody-where without creating a hole up front.

missed penalty and a couple of dodgy moments in defense but 24 shots on goal - great footy.

Go the Nix.  One point behind Perth, so a win on Sunday will be the business.

Haha that was excellent. Completely dominated despite last few minutes of first spell. Great to see Costa so enthusiastic and great assist. Also involved great volley to cap off a great team move at one stage. Should have hit them for another six. Bliss. Love you phoenix

Just got home, very happy. Ifill, again, is fantastic on the ball. Just fantastic.  I noticed a few times when he and Barbarouses were put in identical situations that Costa just got pushed off the ball, while Ifill jinked around them with ease.  Costa will learn a lot playing around these guys and starting - fully deservedthe start and played very well too, when he got suitable delivery.  Topor-whatsisname is a BIG fella and nudged Costa off a few times.

Apart from that, him and Greenie pushing forward with Daniel and Ifill feeding looked very efficient - just need Brown/Bertos and Fred feeding through straight up the middle to complement the 11.

The Ifill-Costa-Greenie goal was up there with Bertos' free kick for nix goals of the season.  Absolute sunner

Looking forward much to Sunday.

is anybody else sick of bertos's mentaility of always trying to take on a player and losing it every time as a consequence aswell as his shocking deliveries from corners and free kicks. good win but we need to sink our penalties and some of our finishing was deplorable but im stilll happy with the 3. pedersen2009-11-04 23:05:56

Hard to please some people . Their keeper made a string of stunning saves, you cannot fault finishing so much as they were all brilliant stops, and we got 3! How can you be mr negative after that?

But having said that, yeah Bertos seems to feel as though he has to do it all on his own for some reason. Has been getting slightly annoying.

Allegedly

Bertos was trying to do too much just in the wrong positions. He set up Ifill for a goal in the 15 minutes he was on, so not bad. I think he would have done better than Daniel did today. Though Daniel did have a couple of good crosses in the second half.

Bit tough on Daniel there. Just about every cross, free kick and corner he put in had their defence under pressure. I thought he was excellent.
