So who will get the bigger crowds at Stadio Caketinnos the Phoenix or the AB rejects?

Average Lions fans this season will be 5700
Average WPFC fans this season will be 8500

That's my prediction.

And when considering that the A-League actually has a decent number of fixtures, the WPFC will smack the Lions for total crowd numbers.

When we shared the ground with North Harbour egg chasers, and even when we were getting crap crowds of 3-4000, we were still getting about double what the Harbour rugby side were. And they built the bl**dy thing for them.
You'll beat them on crowd figures, easy.

The NPC morgue like atmosphere will only be matched by Weepu and Nonus  faces as they calculate the income differential between league and union!

the transition for nonu from union to league would be simpler than from chasing an egg to a football  eggs for eggs, footballs for footballers

At least he cant fumble the ball as much in football as he does with the egg ball. (theoretically at least. Knowing Nonu he would probably get red carded for handballs within the first 5 minutes)

Nonu for Berwick Rangers.

"Nonu wants to be a Berwick Ranger,
To live a life of sex and danger."

Dunno whether the mascara will go down too well at Shielfield Park.

you are nuts!

They will average 15,000 this year?  In the worst NPC in living memory?  With Jewish new year just around the corner and the worst recorded shortage of rugby balls in the last 100 years?

Sorry let me revise my number:

Average Lions fans this season will be 103 (44 of whom will be there out of "curiosity")
Average WPFC fans this season will be 29785

Estimated 7000 there tonight for what is probably the best of a very average bunch of home games.

After Tana leaves for France and Weepu leaves for Newcastle...the Phoenix will probably be better off this season. Whether the numbers return next year or not will be more interesting. Curiosity can only help bolster numbers so much.

Yeah but the still get the money for those games though. Wellington played out of their skins last night to record a very good 68-7 win over Otago, So ou would think that result would encourage people to see the Lions play.

Played of their skins? Otago never even played out of the changing room  my auntie  Jean would have put up a better defensive effort than that and shes 63!

Perhaps, but personally I'd rather see games that aren't such a whitewash. The game kinda got boring (relatively speaking because I love rugby) after it became apparent Otago had no chance in a comeback. I go to sports events to see uncertainty in results. I'd be much less inclined to pay for a match where the end result is 99% a given. Fingers crossed we'll be seeing a lot of Phoenix comebacks at the Ring of Fire (though some Phoenix whitewashes would be welcome too!!!)
