Hi guys, as some of you may have worked out whilst I was in NZ I was an ardent Kingz, Knights, Waikato FC and Ngaruawahia United fan and attended as many games as I could.

I know with the Knights a signifficant chunk of the fan base were Auckland City fans which begs the question:

Why are the Phoenix getting good support from Wellingtonians but Team Wewllington not so?

Can someone from Welly please extol thank you.

I suppose the prestige of the product would be the cause. A lot more people would want to go to an A-League match than NZFC because the A-League is better football. The Lions are hurting for attendance for the same reason - people would rather see the Hurricanes. Also because Auckland's population is so large, the small minority who would see an NZFC match is larger than the same or similair proportion of fans in Wellington.

I think you've been mislead.  TW, despite playing in a city with 1/3rd the population of Auckland has generally averaged higher crowds than Auckland.  It was always a sign the Phoenix might thrive.

Sure, the ringleaders of the Bloc bought some atmosphere to Kiwitea St, but the Bloc generally had supporters of Waikato, Waitakere and Team Wellington in there as well.

I'm hearing good noises about Team Wellington plans to piggy-back on the Phoenix support, so if that works look for an explosion in TW crowds.

yea, tw had good crowds over summer, consistently pretty full newtown park and a good few on the embankment on a sunny day. They were led by the elite core of supporters known as the Peter Halstead Fan Club, who in all likelihood are massive phoenix fans already.

I'd say Phoenix would win 2-0

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

I heard the commentators at the shield challenge criticise the Wellington NPC attendance from the week before, saying that the Nix did better. Unfortunately for them, the Wellington attendance whilst poor, was also bigger than for Canterbury's defence of the shield last night. I hope those two clowns are eating humble pie.

God I hope we can get 20k tomorrow. Remember the Kingz? who? Remember the Knights? Who?

It can only do good things, people who are not generally interested in football, are now due to the overwhelming success of the Phoenix, and i believe more people now will attend Wellington games too, Football always has this fever
