Brilliant result
We played really well. Sydney attacks were at a minimum, and we
attacked really well for most of the game. Defense was strong and
never looked like giving anything away.

woohoo! i was really impressed with defense, we kept calm for the most part and didn't hoof it up field needlessly too much...the chanting was cool, and there were 6039 there! all and all, a f*ckn sweet day!
Well after that performance any doubt i had about buying tickets
has gone i'll definitley be purchasing season tickets bring on the
A league!!
I was there in the fever zone and the boys where definitely up for
the game! 2 quick goals (1 by Smeltz, then an own goal by a Sydney
defender) got us going and Sydney had next to nothing in terms of
attack. Coveny was the big striker that he needed to be, while the
2 stand-out surprises for me where Jeremy Christie and Karl Dodd.
Both played really well and proved themselves more than worthy of a
place in the starting XI. Smeltz's 2nd goal just rounded off a
great game. Props to the guys in the Fever zone making loads of
noise and many ingenius chants.
i mean, even Old played well...Ferrate was good, Smeltz was good, Daniel had some good touches, Cleberson was solid...
Gud to see that the team is starting to play well in the build up
to the A league
Did the under-16s that got in for free have to get a ticket?
Because if they didn't the crowd figure could be off by a bit..?

they only had 1 decent strike on goal and it was saved no problem
I like what I'm hearing. Look forward to reading the full match
report and maybe even some highlights on TV *praying*
They counted everyone (whether you paid or not) because we all had
to walk through the turnstiles. So everyone was counted.

I was impressed that we closed them down so well in the second 1/2
- great attitude and organization. About 30 mins into the
second half we seemed to have won the mental battle and we started
to play with a bit more ambition and imagination; which was
great to see - much better than just sitting on 2-0 for the whole
45 mins. Some lovely one touch stuff, and again good to see Aloisi
geeing them up!
Ricky certainly seems to have got them thinking and working
for each other!!

I did think that the Syndey team didn't like Daniel and Cleberson's
over-acting sometimes. But thats what made it fun for us. They
would have done the same. We badly injured one of their players
within seconds of us kicking off, lol.
What a brilliant afternoon! Sydney got a darn good spanking that
could easily have been 5-0!!! What an impressive first home
performance by the Nix! Bring on the Roar! I think they
all played really well. Sydney didn't really offer much in
reply. Wonder how we'll be looking come A-League play off
time!! WAHOOOO!!! GO THE NIX!!!!!!
yeh Daniel had a couple of miraculous recoveries
but then again he got clouted a coulpa times and the ref or
lino gave him nothing!
I reckon kleberson took a fair whack at the end and was pretty
gutsy (though he did risk agravating it) to want to stay on,.
I'm glad ricky took him off. I didn't see any diving from him
- Dani well ... hey he's one of ours so I'll just scream for
the free kicks!!!

ferrante looked quite eratic to me! not much composure at times..
christie looked good and lochhead got forward well which was
good

What a game!!!!! Could have easily been 6 or 7 nil. Great day at
the Ring of Fire, great atmosphere. Daniel was outstanding and
Aloisi was strong in midfield. Cant wait for the season opener

Well done lads!!! it all starts from the back and we were so strong today that mossy only had to make one save... passing was good through the midfield and the ball got to the strikers quick which was BRILLIANT and gave the other lads time to get forward and support!
I came to the game hoping for a competitive game and maybe a
goal for us 
but
was blown away by the progress made since a couple of weeks ago at
the hutt rec!!!!!

Wow what a great game. I really enjoyed myself at the Ring of
Fire, chanting and singing in full voice. Of course the
football was great. So many highlights for me.
I was really impressed with Cleberson. I thought he
looked very solid at the back and cleaned up alot of stuff.
Great result. Cant wait for season opener.

- a good crowd would turn up,

- Old who looked average at Newcastle was pretty solid,
- Christie is actually better than I really thought he was,
- the back four were composed and don't just hoof the ball but play and build momentum from the back,
- the Brazilians......are well Brazilians (touches galore - not to mention the slight injuries )
- more season tickets are bound to be purchased....
Geez Auckland, you don't know how lucky you were to have A-League football, cos if the Nix continue playing the way they do, it aint never going back to Auckland!

I was really impressed with the way we attacked down the flanks,
especially in the first half. I got a bit nervous in the first 5-10
minutes over Cleberson, he missed a couple of easy headers and
seemed a bit hesitant. But he grew in confidence as the game wore
on and was excellent in the second hlaf. Dodd was rock solid, and
Moss only had one save to make from memeory. Pretty impressive
performance overall.

having put so much into the KIngz/Knights. BUt good on yers

No disrespect to those that continued to support the K-teams
right until the end. It's just a shame that mgmt made some bad
calls, and that the rest of the akl public didn't get behind the
squads up there.
True that Phil Style - the challenge for Wellington is that they
still turn up to support the Nix regardless of if they lose or win
- thats the true test but imagine if the Nix get a strong fan base
like the Hurricanes or the Wellington NPC then the fans will turn
up as they do for these teams!
