Best wishes Tony.
He made the comment about his family on saturday night which seemed a bit pointed.

What a loss.Cant think of another CEO in New Zealand sport who has been so approachable to us the normal fan.Good luck in what ever you take on Tony.Lets hope the incoming CEO learns from Tony how to deal with fans.

Opportune time for us to give him an award really.

It's almost as if we knew something

Hope that award goes on the shelf in the office at his new gig when he gets one!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I wouldn't mind this guy Peter Wilt, he did apply for the 'Head of the Hyundai A-League'

What a shock! Tony, thank you for everything you have done at the Phoenix, you are both thoroughly professional AND approachable.   We will all miss you! Please keep supporting the Nix. The Cronuses.

I am worried the new CEO is not going to be anywhere near as approachable, as open with communication with the fans and as willing to work with Yellow Fever as Tony will be. Fingers crossed I am proved wrong...

Hopefully the new person takes a leaf out of Tony's book and is just as approachable and interactive with the fans. All the best Tony!

sh*t all your worried about is how he wont talk to yellow fever about hes sunday lunch!!
ffs... more important things to worry about like acl... phoenix reserves etc etc to carry on...
let alone keeping the club alive.

who cares about if he talks on here or not

Sad to see him go, he has done a fantastic job, and much of the success on the field (signing players etc) and off the field is down to him. A big loss but wish him well for the future.

Hamish Miller as replacement? Did a good job bringing sponsors on board for NZF a few years ago.

Valid point that there are other big issues on the table.

But part of the Phoenix success story has been the close working relationship they've had with their fan base (us).  Would be a shame if that didn't continue but we can only box on and see who the new guy is and go from there.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Commercial acumen has to be number one priority. Tony's strength is that he could combine that with approachability. It added a nice sense of involvement when he came on here ... am still reeling.

Thanks Tony for all the great work you have put in for the Phoenix.  As a fan of football in this country there has been a lot of disappointment but the Phoenix, on and off the pitch, have been great and I know you have been a strong force behind that.  Thanks also for being very friendly and approachable to fans.

I seriously hope that family is the only issue here.  Schooling does sound a bit weak to me.

I don't ever see that happening,  it would be a travesty if it did.

If 'The Apprentice' contestants are representative of of up & coming executives in NZ then the country is in big trouble.

I would expect that the job would be advertised far and wide.

When I said schooling I wanted to say that we suspended the kids enrollment at school and they would have elapsed if we did not send them back. Thats the honest truth.

OK, thanks for that clarification, Tony.  Just wanted to make sure there wasn't any drama behind the scenes.  Once again thanks a lot.

After going through the NCEA system myself, I have to say it's pretty sh*t.

How dare you mock the system that allowed me to pass school and get into uni with very little real work involved.  The absolute cheek of it.  Makes my blood boil.

Thanks Tony, you've been the lanky goalie sitting in behind us, giving me absolute confidence in the Phoenix as an organisation. It's going to be a tough road to replace you.

All the best back home, make sure your kids do their homework so it's at least partially worth our loss.

Cheers.

So sad to see him go. He was a big part of the Nix and we owe him a lot. Without him I wonder if we would have been as successful.
Hope Terry picks the right guy to succeed him.

Tony, thanks again, and I hope these kids behave themselves at school! :D

Paul Cameron - former all white and long standing CEO of sport wellington would be and excellent replacement if we want someone within the region and within the game.  I know he has contacts within the FFA as he has been their guest at a number of matches previously including the GF and is a passionate Phoenix fan

This is pure speculation by the way
