Paston 4 - At fault for goal, couple of dodgy punches one could easily have gone in of the Syd player.
Muscat 7 - Tough on him to make way for Durante
Dodd 7 - Solid
Sigmund 6 - Solid but the breakdown with Paston should have been a goal.
Lochead 8 - A return to form great to see.
McKain 7 - Strong when we needed him to be.
Brown 7 - Solid
Ferrante 7 - Part of a solid midfield 3 that strangled Syd for most of the match
Bertos 7 - Great run for goal, corners are they that hard?
Smeltz 7 - Ran his butt off
Hearfield 6.5 - Lots of effort but not much output.

Herbert 8 - Good team selection, bit of passion from the sideline for a change.

Top team effort and good to see still room for improvement, Paston should make way for Moss and would be looking at Daniel to come in for Hearfield, Daniel on left and Bertos on right.

Key will be to back up with same effort consistently.

Great effort by the team - spirit and passion, that'll win games, but..........

The corners are still sh*te. Can no one kick it as far as the box? We were saved by The Blings ineptitude in front. Wing Nut McFlynn missed a sitter and that blunder by Siggy nearly cost us, thank God Brosque butchered it.
Nice work boys, now some spirit and passion for the next few games too. Don't go hot and cold pleeeease
One area where both Daniel and Gao give us an edge is defiantely set-pieces, they both swing in brilliant corners

Gao was lucky to get the ball in the air with his corners against Perth. Daniel doesn't get on, so we're stuffed in that department.

Siggy had a couple of dodgy moments in the first half, could have cost us badly. Paston was rubbish. Gave the ball away in midfield too often for my looking by pissing around with the ball and trying cute passes.

But we dominated the game, and it would have been a travesty if the Bling got something from the game. Thoroughly enjoyed the game.

I'd start with that next game.

See I really don't undedrstand this one

Sigmund is a known centre back and his most natural position and does an admirable effort in learning and playing at right back. Solid, but has lots to learn.

Durante played a fair bit at right back at Newcastle and has done ok at CB.

Can someone please explain why its not screamingly obvious to leave Sigmund at CB and move Durante to the right? I think both will be increasingly more effective in those roles.

Pretty sure Siggy's the more versatile of the two

For mine I think this game was just a demonstration of RH finally getting it right.. the players had the right attitude and formation. They closed down early and the front 3 offered a lot more than what we have been getting with "old man run the same predictable lines" Coveny. For those who weren't completely satisfied with Hearfield I'd suggest that his off the ball work created a tonne of space for the other guys and enabled Lockhead in particular to run nto space and put balls in behind their back four. We are a far better team when we try and play in behind the opposition rather than in front of the 18 yard box.

Paston was a huge dissapointment; for the 2nd week running his technique was found wanting. He is very good in the air around his 6 yard box but very poor at coming off his line in general play and even worse at dropping to save the low shots... that goal vs the glory was partly his fault IMO.

I'd like to see the same team start next week as Durante hasn't been worth his arm band thus far. Muscat deserves to stay in there until someone can play better. Siggy is a far better CB than RB.

Muscat seems to have a heck of a lot more intensity, motivation and passion than Durante, while the latter is more skilled. Considering this season has been marked by "More skill, less passion, worse football, same results" I'd happily keep Muscat starting if thats what we needed to have a team that gives a damn, as we only seem to do against NSW teams.

I'd also love to see Muscat re-signed. We may have signed him merely as an injury replacement, but he's definatly earnt his spot in the team. More so than some of our more intended signings.

let me tell you how full of sh*t you are

just because paston's tall doesn't mean he's unco. it means he is good under the high ball. i agree that moss should start, but giving paston a 4 cos one screw up is bullsh*t

manny was solid all game questionable defensively my arse

sigmund was bloody good as usual. he is a centre back. again i say questionable defensively my arse

ferrante didn't do anything wrong

anyway some of what you say is true but it is mostly a massive pile of bullsh*t

I think a 4 is fair. Paston could have cost us the game with that non-save and if almost losing 2 competition points doesn't earn you a 4 then what does?
