Moss 6 did well but couldn't (for once) pull off any miracles)
Rees 6 Got forward well as well as doing his job
Dodd 6 Solid most of the time
Lockhead 6 Not as significant last night, but did
nothing wrong
Elrich 4 in a 3 -5 -2 he's meant to get back abd mark a man on
defence, didn't do tht for 1st goal, left Rees exposed, can't get
behind his man
Ferrante 5 failed to impose in midfield, did get his good
passes going
Brown 5 nearly scored (what a save) gave away ball that led to
first goal, failed to impose or direct play
Lia 5 worked hard but...
Felipe 6 step overs when you're standing still won't fool many
defenders
Daniel 7 great penalty, good goal dissed
Smeltz 6 did he have a shot?
Covs 8, could have been a hero, header was within an inch, did
win the penalty, made a difference
Jezza 3 What was he doing getting booked on the sideline?
wasted one precious minute of the 4 added on

How can Felipe only get 6 - he was running the show!
Smeltz also held the ball up bloomin well and showed great
touches. perhaps could have done more to get in goal scoring
positions but hardly ever got the ball in space.
I thought elrich came right in the second half after poor
delivery in first. although he was clearly knackered. cant remember
the specifics of the first goal so cant comment on whether his
responsibility - i just remember a free header for agostino in the
box
otherwise not too uncomfortable with the above

I'd pretty much agree with those ratings.
As for Elrich, is it just me or should our marquee player be doing more than standing on the touchline firing in average crosses. I could do that. The old "he's not fit" line's beginning to wear a wee bit thin. I'd be expecting him to start imposing himself on games a bit more. Having a run at the full back would be a good start. Everybody seems to be making excuses for him but, maybe it's just me, I'd expect our "star" player to look the goods and Elrich hasn't yet. Auckland Jag2007-12-01 16:15:08

I think Elrich's crosses are being dealt with so easily because he
isn't helping to disrupt defences in the way that you do when you
run at them and drag guys out of position. That creates an opening
for the pinpoint cross if I'm right.
