Entertaining, frustrating, heaps better than last 2 weeks....

Mossy 9 Outstanding saves
Louis 7 Better than last week when he was man of the match!
Boxall 7 Coped well with Kennedy
Dura 7 Good game
Manny 5 Could have won us the game, but a lot of errors too
Riera 9 Excellent covering midfield and in defence
A Rod 6 Links up well
Roly 5.5 Some awful corners, otherwise satisfactory
Roy 6 Should have scored
Burns 6 Should have scored
Wee Mac 5 Little impact again
Kenny 5 Should have scored

Am I close?

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Im thinking just about perfect except for me manny was a 3. Too many picked off passes, exploited consistantly on defence and did not cope at all. if 5 is average he was defiantly really poor. other than that maybe weemac 4.5.  Moss 10. Did everything you could possibly want from a keeper bar nothing. May aswell have had Petr Cech in there tonight

Not bad - a tad harsh for me.

Mossy 9 Second best keeping performance of the year after Galekovic last week
Louis 8 Very good defensively, was a constant attacking threat and drew the pen in the box
Boxall 6.5 Good solid game defensively. Toiled well against Kennedy, but think Kennedy wasn't really much of a threat (not mobile)
Dura 7 Good game, some important interventions at times on the LHS.
Manny 5.5 Okay defensively. Had a lot of work to do with Novillo and was shown up on occasion. Tried to get forward more (not really his game). Positioning and marking weren't great. City's right hand side looked the most likely other than Mooy.
Riera 8 Broke up a lot of play and played a number of through balls to cause trouble.
A Rod 6 A few good covering tackles. Did quite a bit off the ball but wayward in some areas.
Roly 6 Got caught in possession a few times. Started slowly. Worked his way into the game. Better second half.
Roy 6 Good tracking back at times. drifted out of the game second half. Tried a cantona-esque assist to chip over the defensive line but Dennis Irwin wasn't there to pound it in. Should have been relishing going up against Jaliens but wasn't a huge attacking threat.
Burns 6.5 Penalty aside, was our most threatening player with running at defenders. Was well marked but often managed to beat the first man
Wee Mac 6 started deeper and got more on the ball. Didn't quite connect with the other attackers. Solid but nothing spectacular. Tried the defence splitting passes but City's defence were comfortable with it.
Kenny 6 Looked okay. Busy but didn't really exert much influence.

Ref Peter Green 9 Thought he was excellent.

Good call on the ref, we give them plenty of stick when they are poor so it's only fair to acknowledge when they have a good game.

Yep, we give the refs lots of shark when they're bad, but Green was good last night. A few questionable calls which is natural, but mostly on the money, and kept control of the game. Can't ask for much more than that.

We look a ton more composed with Riera at the back. Quite incredible really. Boxall did well (is he really off next season?) though Kennedy is the perfect player for him to mark, slow and relying on size which The Box can match. Louis and Moss great as everyone else has said.

I'm a bit worried about that our attackers aren't playing well together at the moment. Some are trying to do a bit too much themselves (Burns, Roly) and Krishna has some great qualities but too often takes the wrong option for me. Will hopefully learn this with experience though.

Agree for all this except I thought Manny was below average (Sucks cause I like the guy), to me he was a point or two below what I would expect as an average performance so would be a 4 or 3.5 for me.

I would also dock Burns for the penalty lol harsh I know as he did some good work but that penalty was poor 5.5 from me!!

Say what you like about Carlos but at least he could put away a penalty, ever since he and Iffs left I've never had faith in any of our penalty takers.

I would give basically everyone a 4. Moss would get a 9, Riera and Fenton would both get 8. Manny probably a 2.

You realise it was a nil all draw against an in form opponent, right?

Fenton the last couple of weeks has looked quite promising at RB. Got forward last night and won the penalty whilst also been generally in the right place at the right time defensively.

With Siggy back next week i'm thinking Manny might get benched and Boxall and Fenton will get the FB roles.

Hard to imagine Manny being dropped considering for so long he has been Mr Consistant for us, but he has really looked sub par recently.

and we cannot expect players to be 'on' every week. Form fluctuates and as much has Manny has been a very dependable player for us over such a long period of time, this could be a down time for him right now and a spell on the bench for a game or 2 may be in order and not necessarily a bad thing.

Moss = 10. Did everything he needed to do. Unless keepers now need to score goals to achieve a 10 ..

Yes but you can do everything needed of you and not even have to get your shorts dirty as a goalie. Does that still merit a 10?

I am not dissing his performance yesterday. Easily MOTM but to get a 10 you have to be doing a whole lot more than "everything needed". You would have to produce some stunning spectacular saves. He made some very good saves, but none that I thought how the fudge did he do that?

The one on one save in the 80th minute by memory was pretty decent. 9.5

Really? There were certainly at least a couple of those in the second half i thought.

10 = Perfect game, pretty much?

Mossy stopped everything that was fired at him and didn't concede a goal. Don't quite see how it can get much more perfect than that for a goalkeeper. It's not about how miraculous the saves were, it's about the fact that he made them, lots of them.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

There were some very good saves but the ones he made, did you go 'Jesus how the hell did he do that, thats a screamer' or 'that's very good reactions'. The one late from down Fentons side that went across goal and Moss got down and got a hand to it, yes it was bloody good reactions, but I would almost expect all good keepers to do that with reasonable success rate. Even the one that the commentators went 'That's known as the catch and dive' in the 1st half was not a difficult one for him.

What he does get kudos for is the volume of very good saves. You can not deny his form is very good at the moment vs error rate. Still MOM by a landslide and deservedly so.

the outrageous doesn't make a 10 performance, the doing what is needed when it is needed every time it is damn well needed and saving a point is a 10 for me.

I thought his positioning was outstanding. He didn't need to be too acrobatic. How was his distribution though? wasn't really watching that

At least we are having a conversation about whether mossy was a 9 or 10. Brilliant performance. As I mentioned earlier, only galekovic's performance a week back was better this season IMHO.

Perhaps this is was Moss's best game for us if not for some time, possibly ever.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
