Sorry too busy to do ratings the last two games, probably spared the pain anyway. However, today...

Mossy 7 Commanded his area, made a really good save off Garcia
Manny 6.5 I hope he likes it back there, because he does a fine job
Dura 7 Led the team well, didn't give Babalj a sniff
Siggy 6 What a shame his header bounced over.
Lochie 7.5 Showed up, offered options, took players on and still did his defensive work
Lia 6.5 One of his best games
Leo 7.5 A revelation
Ifill 7.5 Found space and used it really well, good assist
Brockie 7 Lovely volley, good cross for Stein
Gameiro 6 Worked hard
Stein 6.5 Apart from not being abl;e to score a very good game

Dani 5 Little impact

Greenie 8 Small but significant changes. Well done.

Your opinion??

Splitting hairs I'd say that if Durante was a 7 I don't know why Siggy wasn't too. Thought he was excellent.

Best thing Dani did was hack that Heart player down when they were breaking dangerously with 2 minutes to go. Cheered him for that.

Agree with most, Siggy upto 7, Broke up alot of attacks and made some good runs forward. Best game for awhile.

Gameiro upto 7: worked hard and covered alot of ground,  closed down a few attacks and created a few for us.

Just my 2 cents worth

Leo was worth a lot more . He was MOM by a country mile.

Tony Lochhead was close behind.

So, he was MOM by a country yard or two

Bookie is a player you carry, sometimes he is just watching the seagull, would expect more endeavour for a 7.

Sigmund lives life on the edge and was lucky not to be exposed when he charges upfield, no more than a six.

Blockehead still hits the first man with his crosses... how many years have I been watching, when NZ Professional Footballers cant cross. (Aaron Lines days at the Kingz)

I thought the commentators spent so much time talking about Leo being in a further forward position that they missed better performances on the pitch. He was good, but not better than others.
The first 30min Lia was fantastic, the left foot cross field pass to Ifill under pressure was great and the short corner option to him created a few opportunities.
Individually everyone played better than they have in recent weeks.

But we keep pointing out that Brockie is a Smeltz-style goal-poacher. He lurks unnoticed until it's time to score. That's his style.

Vinnie Lia had his best game ever in a Phoenix shirt.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Spot on Doloras. End of the day Brockie's job is to score goals. So far he has 14 goals this season and thats out of 26 the team have scored. People have a go at him for not being involved enough. But there are have been 14 very important times this year he has been involved. In this game he got that crucial goal and I think he also put the cross in for Stein to hit the crossbar with his head. For me thats good enough for a 7. Oh and he hit the crossbar from an impossible angle

You may be right but it is very frustrating watching Brockie, there is limited cooperation with other front runners ie Stein. Does sit and amire a pass. Doesnt show when he should.

Though does "Scores Goals", so ill be quiet..

What did Vinnie get up to in the end or did you lose count?

I though Corey was pretty good but he said after the game it was the worst game he has played in 2 years.

corey was pretty invisible - didnt really have a position

You can see Brockie's value when he does get his act together though- his delivery is much better than Leo's. And we've hardly used him out wide...tough one, cos apart from Stein hardly anyone to put on the end of the cross.

But, again, that was the point. Posters to the match thread pointed out that Corey was basically drawing two or three defenders away with him all the time, letting the ball get through to Brockie, Stein, Ifill etc. You noticed that the ball to the front line dried up in the second half when he was subbed for Sanchez.

Every time Vinnie did something good, made a tackle, passed the ball successfully to a Nix player, earned a free kick, scored a goal, I gave him +1 point.

Every time he did something poor, lost the ball,m passed it to Heart player, committed a foul and gave away a free kick, got booked, scored an own goal, I gave him -1 point.

For the first time in memory Vinnie went into half time in positive double figures. He finished up at full time on +18. And that doesn't involve points for all the running and chasing he did.

Locheads best game for an age, he'll he even  showed some trickery and beat players. Also his overlapping runs created space for Ifil to cut inside, which brought him into the game more.
