What a commanding game. Well done lads. My version
Vuka 7 Organised, looked confident
Troy 7 He too looked in control, calm on the ball
Siggy 7.5 Very strong
North 7.5 Controled his area like a leader
Manny 9 Excellent in everything he did, took the piss out of them all night with his feints, set a great example
Leo 6 Quiet, but did his job
Vinnie 8 Bossed the midfield with Timmy, good passing into the feet of the strikers
Timmy 7.5 Strong, closed them down well nice goal and shot
Marco 8 Created lots, nice goal, great starting debut
Ifill Oh dear, a game he could have had a field day, but in a way his inhjury made them all stand up. Hope he's not too bad
Big Mac 7.5 Used his size well, nice set up for Rojas
Greenie 8 Beautiful cross for Timmy, nice cheeky goal, nearly an outrageous overhead kick too
Daniel 6 Steady, lovely pass for Timmy to set up DMac
Musa Good to see him on too
Ricki 8 for playing 4 - 4 - 2
Maybe I'm a bit more generous than Filipe, just like the Jets!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I would have easily given Siggy an 8. Was between him and Marco for MOM.

My 5 cents worth - North was outstanding tonight - he organised the back four and read the game brilliantly.

He showed the class he undoubtedly has but has been a bit elusive so far this season.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Manny and Marco were standouts for mine with North not far behind

Hearfield was quite good too - pressed well and made the right decisions

Brown had a typical Brown performance - not that great at doing the simple passes (lost it a few times) but still scored and set up a goalvaleo2010-12-18 22:08:30

Top games from everyone.

Muscat was fantastic as was North....best game this season. Siggy has really added some class to his usual gutsy play. Dmac played a very solid game up front and contested everything. Lia did some good and crap things, Brown...great goal and good workrate. Daniel relished the openness of the game and played some great balls. Rojas....enough said. If he continues to develop this kid will play in higher leagues than the A-League. Sign him for 5 years

Obviously a good performance all round.

Rojas - excellent for first game 9
Sigmund - never put a foot wrong  and won so much in the air 8.5
Lia- Best game for a long time 8.5
North - looked good, best game for the Phoenix 8
Vuko, Greenacre, Brown, Muscat, Daniel - did well, did what youd expect with some excellent moments 7.
MacAllister - got better, battled hard in the end against and excellent Topor Stanley. Scored well and had a hand in at least 1 other goal 6.75
Leo - first game back, didnt look quite right 6.5
Hearfield - didnt look comfortable at right back 6
Ifill - didnt look right to me from the start, wonder if he was carrying a niggle.

Not singling him out in any way because I like Lia but there is no way he was anywhere near 8.5 tonight. Some of his passing was just dreadful and put our defence under a lot of pressure.

Good tackling though and he never stopped running.

Ricki starting BigMac for me was a masterstroke. He effectively played 1v1 with Topor-Stanley all night which in the end they cancelled eachother out. But that left heaps of space for our guys to test their young new defenders.

And it worked

This.  Outstanding and utterly composed. MOM for me.

Oh yeah, he was really good tonight. Hopefully he can carry it on next week with Dura back.

Thought Lia had great times of possession, still sometimes tries to play defense splitting passes which get cut out, but overall really played well with brown

Rojas will just keep getting better, hes by far our most dangerous winger and when Ward is back i think Bertos is gonna have to find some magic to stay in the lineup. Although Ricki will probably stick with Leo for no reason.

Greeny moved well and we again saw how these two strikers need to function. Either play both of them, or their almost not worth playing. Big Mac had Rory Fallon-esque moments tonight. With Ifill probably out for a few weeks, its good we have a striker pair with a goal each and some confidence and form.

vukovic awesome
leo had one good run, other than that he was poor, not every ball has to be passed backwards

Vukovic's run up the centre and then to the corner flag was sensational!HarryHotspur2010-12-18 23:27:18

North was all quality tonight, Siggy not far behind him, thought Lia had a top game and really controlled the centre of the park, Rojas tremendous and Greenacre great effort.

Of the others Manny, Brown and Dmac did well as did Daniel when he came on. Vuko couple of quality saves and some good distribution.

Hearfield did nothing wrong but needs to do a lot better with possession and Leo was pretty quiet.

All up best Nix performance for a long long time.

Think Ifill may have more of a job out wide if this striker partnership can blossom.

Marco - 9, we loose one marque class player early but it looked like Marco was the man anycase.  Very exciting to watch him running, crossing, scoring and doing work at the defensive end.  Pretty complete package.  Can now expect Aussie elbows, hips and full body presses for the rest of the season.
Vuko - 8 - positive, good positioning, couple of good saves.  Not really stressed tho'
Hearfield - 7 - no errors, got forward enough.  Pretty solid game, not really worked over this week and his questionable crossing not reallyneeded.
Sig - 8 - solid as and looked composed playing out.
North - 8 - solid as, contributed going forward, he and sig looked organised.
Manny - 8.5 - put this guy anywhere, he'd do the job.
Vinny - 7.5 - did the boss job with no cards, can't even recall a foul, looked to provide the creative ball several times and a couple nearly paid off.
TB - 8 - moved it around, pops up in the right places, has some loose touches but the extra half point 'cause he scored ... again.  Go Timbo
Leo - 6.5 - for periods that are too long he needs a lit fire cracker up one or two orifices.  Otherwise good.  Maybe I should rate him at least as high as Hearfiled, but ...
Greeny - 7.5 - whoever said we need either both Greeny and Mac, or neither, I concur.  Good game, good poachers goal.
Big Mac - 7.5 - I've not rated him much at all, but have to say he looked good tonight.  Still lacks speed but was accurate and won a lot of ball.  Good assist, very tiddy taking the goal.  I'd say when there is good pace running off him it can work.  Topor Stanley had a class game, but Big Mac still got the business going up front.
Ifill - no rating - get well soon.
Musa - Interesting Manny stayed at the back and the Muss got to run around in midfield.  Good call to leave a sucessful back four as it was.
Kosta - 9 - another goal for Brisbane, great work rate.  How many years did he sign for Roar?
442 - 9 - works for me.  I'd give Ricki a 9, but he got forced into it really.
Good to be back, Good to be Back.

edit: and Daniel - well I nearly forgot him, which maybe says something, but did some good stuff. maybe 7.
Jets - 6.5 - missing a bunch of players, hard game on Wednesday, 12 hours travel getting here, well beaten by our average 7.5.  A better team than we saw tonight.  We'll need to beat them again to make Top 6 I reckon and I think we can.

Referee 9/10 - don't recall him making a wrong decision, calmed the situation in the 1st half when North got axed from behind and had the balls to give the goal that was only just over despite the Jets protestations. We bag the refs alot but credit where it's due here.
Was a nice change not to have O'Leary!

Yellow Fever 9/10 - came through loud and clear over the telly, "we want six" then "we want seven" made me lol. Bit quiet for a wee bit 2nd half but really great atmosphere

You think Dura will be back next week? to my mind Siggy and North went too well for him to march straight back in. They look a better combination than Dura and anyone else based on last night's performance.

remember siggys punch last year, could durante's suspension have the same effect?

Agreed. north and siggy were outstanding, and with vuko back in goal they looked pretty solid (As much as i like vuko in fairness he only had a couple of saves to make which he did well).
And given that Durante hasn't been at his outstanding best lately, it might be hard for the captain to force his way back.

You might fe right, but I reckon Durante will be first pick on Ricki's list.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
