Worst rating of night to ref for only sending Burns off once and not sending Sterjovski.

Gutsy effort, awesome to see that deteremination.

Pasty 8 A couple of terrific saves, clean sheet
North 7 His best game by far, sound defence
Siggy 8 Guts, kept out the long balls all night
Dura 7 Lead well, apart from one terrible moment, defence was tight
Manny 7 Won most of his personal battles, gave the ball away a few times too
Timmy 7 Keep scoring a volley every week Timmy and I'll give you a seven minimnum, ok??
Lia 6 Kept the pressure on their midfield
Elliot 7 Holding us together, leadership!
Ifill 5.5 should have scored twice
Greenie 5.5 got little change out of their defence
Leo 6 Good first half
Daniel 5 Useful
Big Mac 4 Not too useful
Rojas Got on the pitch

Ricky well done on giving that lineup a chance for redemption. That they hardly deserved. They stepped up well.

What do you think??

Apart from Paston I reckon those ratings might be overselling us a bit. Be tempted to take a point off most of them.

We were lucky Perth were so awful.

I dont think Brown desrved a 7 goal or not....missing at time again tonight
Bertos only really played the first half
Elliot a 6
Big Mac  3

referee very poor and inconsistent

Agreed - still, bloody happy with the win and our defence stood up very well that 2nd half

I agree. It was a wonder goal, but Tim was pretty invisible for most of the game- no way was he a 7.
Paston by a mile.

come on lads, lets not get carried away.

we were not that good. Lia, Elliot probably deserve a 3/4

Ifill 4/5

but I tell ya what, Daniel was impressive in the short time he was on. Held the ball up with good composure. What we need imo.

scrappy game.

Yip Big Mac should lose his spot to Pav next week. And Ward back in too. What will we do when Elliot leaves though?

Think everyone stepped it up from Weds, but still think there is room for improvement. Really need to readress the fact that greeny is still up front alone getting isolated.
I just look back at first half against Adelaide where Pav was next to him and think we were just so much more dynamic, and with Elliot now, perhaps two up front would get the best out of greeny, because we still need to score goals, and if it werent for Browny's wonder tonight, I don't know how happy we would have been...

Pasty 9 Rock Solid
North 5 Very average, looked lost at times
Siggy 7 Several key blocks
Dura 6 Reasonable
Manny 7 Solid
Timmy 7 Nice goal (albeit flukey), not a bad game
Lia 6 Reasonable, few off touches
Elliot 5 Many off touches and poor crossing, dissapointing
Ifill 6 Created great opportunities and looked energetic but failed to finish.
Greenie 6 Good work rate but nothing much out of it
Leo 6 Pretty average
Daniel 5 Average
Big Mac 4 Pretty terrible
Rojas - not enough time

Mac - 2 - quite dreadful

Ifill - 6 - He suffered some fairly brutal tackles and subsequently looked a bit hobbled.

Composure is the thing we badly lacked all night. Elliot, after a dodgy first 20 settled down, looked to hold the ball and release players instead of banging it forward. And Daniel showed the kind of calmness we needed late on.

Apart from that there were so many panicky punts upfield or into touch, with the ball just coming straight back. I think our desperation for the win nearly caused us to self-destruct but thank goodness we got away with it.

Comments like those on Daniel just remove any credibility that people might have thought you had with your first comments.

Agreed. I hope this win gives us the confidence to play the ball on the deck for next week.

I think also the subs probably came in to a typical Herbert game plan when we are 1-0 up.

Soak up the pressure, don't worry about attacking. Just soak it up.

Look at some of the potential chances we had in the second half, nobody around, could have run at the goal and had a go, but they hold it up and wait for support, and try to kill play at the other end of the park.

It's not the first time we've seen this happen, and it wont be the last, where we try to sit on a 1 nil lead and soak up the pressure, only to give it away in the last 5-10 mins cause we're so tired, and the opposition are so buoyed by their consistent attacks.

While it was a win, we still werent grat. First bit of the first half, we looked sh*t-hot, good sharp passing and moving the ball forward, then we score and we resort to punting it up the pitch.

Quite sad. Great to have the 3 points, but we still havent got back in my opinion.

Sitting on a 1-0 lead away from home at a place you barely ever win - especially when you just got belted 4-1 in the previous game - isn't exactly a crazy tactic.

The defense was ok, but it was defending against the same toothless long ball offense we played, not a fluent attack of the roar etc. I wonder what ricki would have done if we didn't go 1 up.
But really perth haven't scored in ages I think with players like sterjovski falling over all the time instead of kicking the ball hah.
