Yeh well, I disagree with the press reports saying that we were dominated, both sides had decent periods of domination and frustration. A fair result, anyway...
Here are my thoughts from seeing the game live and no chance to see any replay, so correct me if I'm wrong....
Pasty 6 Not a lot to do, a helluva lot better distribution that the tard keeper who had trouble keeping the ball in play
Troy 6 Defended well, offered a lot down the flank, but his last pass was often misplaced
North 7.5 a damn good game
Dura 7.5 tried to cover young Musa as well as doing his usual good job
Musa hmmm first half awful, second half a lot more confident, rating... 4.5 (?)
Manny 6 pretty good
Daniel 5 Has lost his zip
Timmy 7 great link work with Ifill
Vinnie 6 Gave the ball away far too often, but worked his arse off
Leo 5.5 a quiet game
Ifill 8 top form

Ward 6 Made an impact
Rojas 7 Leo and Daniel were you watching ??? Lifted everyone's spirits
Greenie Little impact

As usual agree with majority of ratings.

Special mention for Browny - best game of the season by a long stretch (about time !).

Lia - yes worked hard but then gave away far too much possession - too much looking for the 40 yard ball when there were good options a lot closer.

Daniel - agree - I can't recall him beating a player last night.

Leo had one of his "lazy" games.

A bit hard on Greeny - he made a very positive difference when he came on.

The encouraging thing for me is we looked a lot better and there is still plenty of upside e.g. Lia  realising and playing within his passing limitations, Browny continuing his form recovery, Leo getting back to the attacking Leo we all know and love and Marco and Musa continuing to develop.

Yeh - agree

and Bertos hampered by the groin injury so perhaps less lazy and more restricted by injury

thought Manny for once was not a stand-out performer, but solid enough

back four starting to settle but still getting disrupted by comings and goings, hopefully v Sydney we will start a good run with our favoured back four and Manny at DM.  Ah, yes, that includes Hearfield, till Lochead comes back.

im thinking troy a 6.5 after his assist for browny

and a little harsh on musa, maybe a 5 considering daniel got one and he hardly did anything

Agree with majority of ratings.

Think Browny dissapeared like his usual self in the second half. But first half he was all over the place.

Lia again gave the ball away too much. I think he wants to be just that little bit more classier a player than he is capable of sometimes.

Manny was solid again. He sure does have really good technical ability doesn't he.

I hoped Daniel was gonna step it up this week, but he really did quite little. Think he will be lucky to start again come weds. Maybe Ward for me? Playing out wide may be the best for him, as it gives him the same sort of freedom Ifill would get, without too much defensive duties.

Greeny did very well when he came on. He looks like hes gonna fight for that spot back, which is a great thing.

Musa learnt a valuable lesson this game. But he was quite good technically i think, and definitely will grow into a good player. You could tell he was nervous as hell.

I also agree with most of what you have said.

Apart from Daniel knock him down to a 3. Did crap all and is extremely slow. He makes me look FAST

Pretty much agree, apart from Greenacre. I thought he was good when he came on, worth a 7.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Musa was a bit exposed, and didn't he have Daniel playing in front of him, so i dont think that helped him a lot.

I think a few bench appearances for him are needed, not an extended hiatus until the next defender gets their 5th yellow.

I was impressed by his throw-in though. WOW.

Huge throw!!! Nah I can see musa back to the reserves tbh.
But thats gonna give him that added confidence and something to work towards more.playwithFire2010-11-29 11:18:31

Leo wasn't lazy - he had a groin strain remember?
he was injured, not lazy.

That may have been the case but, if it was, why was he still on the pitch ?

If it was hampering his performance then why stay on when it would obviously only aggravate the injury and also compromises your team's performance.

He should be professional enough to signal the coach to sub him.

And yes that may sound harsh but surely knowing when you need to come off is part of being a professional footballer.

This times a million. Rojas stole the headlines sure, but the introduction of Greenacre was an equally significan substitution in my eyes. He really put himself about, actually tackled their centre backs and won some valuable possession. After he started playing Melbourne's quality of possession dropped a fair amount and that contributed to us coming back into the game.

I know everybody goes on about how hard working he is and if you just watch him et cet. but in comparison with the 'front 3' (we all know it was a glorified 4-5-1) his industry and pressing really took the game to Melbourne.

We also played our best stuff when it was 442.

Rojas coming on was all the difference, but that could be partly to the formation we played at that point. I liked the Rojas for Musa sub a lot.
