Mossy 6 on his toes, didn't have to be man of the match like bloody Covic was
Louis 8 Very good performance, defended well, a great ball across box, covered other defenders too
Siggy 8 Good defence, showed leadership by powering down the field when the rest of the team couldn't do it
Dura 7.5 A good game, a great block
Manny 7.5 Part of a very good back four
Reira 6.5 Covered well a few times, did his job
Vinnie 6 Solid game
Hicks 5.5 Not his best, not much combination with either Manny or Kenny, but did set up Carlos nicely only for Carlos to put it wide
Carlos 5.5 Should have scored, frustrations were disappointing, is he injured really?
Kenny 5.5 Closed out of the game for much of it
Stein 6.5 Did well, needs someone to link up with
Ifill 6 Why couldn't they get the ball to him? Prob because the midfield disintegrated about the same time he came on
Boxall 5 Kept it fairly tight
Tyler 5 Brought some energy, but not much else

Ref 4 Too much whistle, too many cards, just as well he didn't add a second yellow to anyone

Your views??

Mossy 6

Back 4 - 8. Does anyone want Caira back (other than next week when he has to play)

Kenny 5.5 bumped to a 6
Stein 6.5 dropped to a 6
Ifill 6 bumped to 6.5
Boxall 5 bumped to 5.5 - tough on him in a role he does not play. Ernie should have swapped him and Manny.
Tyler 5 bumped to a 6.5 - looked very lively.

Caira has been fine , he was up against hersi in the 1st game v wsw and did well . Manny had tarj who was very poor today , and when hersi came on he got behind Manny and caused him problems . Also Juric was up front in 1st game as well , bridge was hopeless today . Give the kids a chance Vade

I'm not writing Caira off but I would prefer Manny there to Caira and its not insignificant to say thats the best we have looked at the back and he did not play.

I think I agree that Manny could work at left fullback.

Would drop Hernandez to 3-4. Shocking game. I believe in him though and he will bounce back.

Vinnie was pretty good and certainly doesn't deserve the scapegoat title this week.

Louie was fantastic. MOM for me.

wsw were not at full strenght up front and also Ono missing as well . Manny is a more aggresive player but did not get forward at all . So there was little chance of being out of position . When these young backs attack and the likes of Carlos , brockie and stein turn the ball over quickly , the young guys have pushed up and get caught out of positio . Remember they are only doing as Merrick instructs

This is pretty much it for me watching it at the stadium. Glad you bumped up Tyler as I quite liked his Ninja/Parkour antics on the pitch and he really got stuck in.

I thought Vinnie was slightly better than Riera. Worry a little about Hicks. I am hopefully that it is just a matter of him getting used to the pace of the game, improving his decision making but his first touch is not consistent enough.

I agree mainly with this, thought at time Riera looked okay but did give the ball away on a few occassions. Hicks seems to have a good touch but gets knocked off the ball quite easily and is sometimes a bit a slow in delivering the pass. Boxall seemed hopelessly out of position and dont rcall him having much of a contribution at all

Boyd, while showing plenty of endeavour early on was really rather disappointing imo. He settled into his time on the park maybe once some of the "head with a chook cut off energy" expired, but in the first 5-10 mins he was on the park he sure gave away a lot of the pill putting us under quite a bit of pressure.

To be fair to Hicks, pretty sure I would not like to play behind Kenny, who does make some good runs, but it is fair to say he is not consistent in his runs and I would guess Cunningham himself does not know where he is going half the time. His runs tend to be too straight for mine, especially if it is a wide midfielder he is looking to receive from.

To be fair to Kenny he wasn't playing his natural position. Oh for a striker....

Lia had a very good game and still gets a 6.

He probably had his best game distribution wise, made some good challenges and got forward on a couple of occassions. For me he was the best midfielder today out of Hicks, Hernandez and Riera.

I normally slate the guy, but deserves better than hes getting on here recently.

Lia managed to burgle the ball off the opposition a fair few times yesterday with late runs from behind the player concerned.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

All without getting a yellow card, which is a surprise with how card happy that ref is. 14 games in a row without one now.

Sigmund has done well in that respect as well too. Interesting to see the difference when he is not leaving the line and giving away dumb fouls.

It is actually quite surprising how few, relatively,Siggy has given away over his career

That referees pocket was like a toaster, the way the cards kept popping up.

This year I've basically come on here to read, make tips and vent my frustration over Lia's existence.
Bearing that in mind, the midfield was Lia >> Riera >> Hernandez/Hicks > Boxall.
Manny was great but I think if Hersey had started it might have been a different story.
Huysegems was great, Kenny was ok.
I feel sorry for Ifill coming on when we have no structure left, but it does sort of suit his style.
Boyd is still too far away from ready to get game time in anything other than 2+ leads.

Fenton was excellent.  MVP for me.  Defended well, covered well, ran the line all day.  Quality effort.  Must have had his confidence boosted by making his All Whitess debut.  Would give him a 9
