Kurto 8: Controlled his area well and made a big save when needed. Liked the fact he looked to roll the ball out a couple times as well. Still a little iffy for me at time inside the 6 yard box, but that is me being picky.

Doyle 8: Was very good in the challenge and in the air. His positioning was really good this game and I liked seeing him give Durante a serve for falling a sleep positionally at one stage. His distribution is lacking, but one can not complain about a clean sheet.

Taylor 7: Misses out on .5 for that miss. Again dominate in the air and positionally always in the right place. Brings a sense of calm and fun to the team.

Durante 7.5: His best game in a long time. Held his area well and was strong in the air and the challenge. A couple silly fouls, but overall a disciplined effort.

Fenton 7.5: showed a little more going forward today, even trying to take a player on the outside. What impressed my most was his touch bringing down long racking balls, very assured. Is doing well on D, being in the right place at the right time.

Carcace: 7: a couple iff moments but was similar to Fenton, if not quite as involved. continues to work hard and put in good shifts.

Rufer 7: He was excellent in the first 20, winning challenges and making vital inteceptions. He fell away a little as the game went on, but his initial work was vital in keeping us in the game.

Mandi 7: Works hard and is positionally sound. His lack of pass and tendency to mishark his longer passes is a concern, but he screened the backlin well.

Singh 5: was nothis day. delivery was poor as was his shooting. he still had some lovely turns, but for everything good he did, he did something poorly.

Krishna 6.5: worked hard, won a lot of fouls but was wasteful with a couple decent chances. Didn't seem to work as hard defensively this game?

Williams 5.5: nothing really came his way. Looked strong and quick, but just didn't get the ball.

Burgess 6: good work, some nice touches, but needs to react faster and pull the trigger sooner.

Nicholls 6: Worked hard but did nothing to stand out.

Burns: not enough time... although I could be mean and say 4, because all he did was give the ball away.

Didn't include Burns again cuz rating someone subbed on after 85 minutes feels kinda pointless

WELLINGTON PHOENIX

Filip Kurto - 7

Virtually a spectator for 90 minutes as Brisbane failed to muster a meaningful shot on target, but was called upon in injury time to brilliantly deny Lopez the winner.

Tom Doyle - 8

His shot was parried for Taylor's miss early on, but did his best work at the heart of Wellington's back five. Doyle put his body on the line on countless occasions and was produced an excellent display of defending. He was turned inside out by Beautheac late on, but otherwise enjoyed an impressive evening.

Andrew Durante - 7.5

Kept Taggart under wraps and led by example with some excellent defending. Showed his class once again as he approaches his 250th appearance next weekend.

Steven Taylor - 7.5

Doesn't score many goals, but certainly won't get a better chance than his glaring miss in the 9th minute. His 'no nonsense' style of play probably won't win him the Johnny Warren Medal, but it will certainly help Wellington win games.

Louis Fenton - 7.5

Worked hard down the right side but performed his primary defensive duties well throughout the encounter and kept Mikkelsen, and then Henrique, very quiet.

Liberato Cacace - 7.5

Deployed in a left wingback role, he did his defensive duties astutely. Looked to bomb forward when he had the chance but had limited opportunities as Brisbane dominated possession.

Mandi Sosa - 7

An industrial 90 minutes from the Spanish wrecking ball as he helped close down the space in front of his backline with an excellent display.

Alex Rufer - 7

Busy worker in midfield and broke up Brisbane's attacks. Almost punished after being caught on the ball on the hour mark. Withdrawn after 82 minutes for Nichols.

Sarpreet Singh - 6.5

Showed his attacking intent as early as the 1st minute but despite his 'shoot on sight' approach, failed to find his range. Had an excellent opportunity to help the Phoenix knick it late on but his final ball once again lacked quality.

Roy Krishna - 8

Showed exactly how valuable he is to the Phoenix as he led from the front and looked to attack at every opportunity. Constantly looked to exploit the space in behind the Roar backline, and in particular behind O'Toole down Brisbane's left. Ran himself into the ground before making way late on for Burns.

David Williams - 5.5

It was a quiet homecoming from the former Roar striker who was rarely sighted in the attacking third for Wellington. Guilty of static movement in the box just before halftime when a tap in beckoned. Withdrawn after 67 ineffectual minutes for Max Burgess.

Substitutes

Mitch Nichols - N/A

Given just under 10 minutes but failed to make a noticeable impact.

Max Burgess - 6

Came on for Williams and given best part of half an hour to influence the match but spent more time doing his defensive duties.

Nathan Burns - N/A

Brought on for fresh legs in the dying moments.

I tend to give most players ratings between 5.5 and 8, and most 6-7; do others use the full ten point range?

If not, how about a scale that goes <4.5  4.5  5  5.5  6   6.5  7  7.5  8  8.5 >=9?

When Durante bags a hatrick to celebrate his 250th game I want to use the 10 please!
