Hmm... entertaining game
Vuka 8 excellent decision making, one great save
Siggy 7 Real good value on overlapping runs and defence
Dura 5.5 Did well until late, with ten men and he charges out into the midfield gets nowhere near the ball, luckily the uinmarked striker stuffs up the shot, just like Kosta scoring against us....
North 7 Strong
Manny 7 Strong as well and useful looking forward
Lia 4 Had won a lot of ball, but then could easily have cost us the game with that stupid dive in studs up tackle. Idiot
Timmy 5 Ball swirling all around him
Ward 7.5 No silly errors, linked uo well with striker, kert them back pedalling
Leo 8 His best game for a while. If only he had sent in the early cross on two occasions we might well have had four. Scored.
Greenie 8 He does so well, winning lots of ball that he should never get. Scored.
Daniel 6 Sound, though not as exciting as he used to be.
Troy 5.5 No stuff ups.
Big Mac 6 only on for a few min, but did well
Toto Not enough to rate

I agree Leo's best game in ages, if only he could have put a first time ball in, you say twice I noticed 3 times, he dallied on the ball and allowed a stretched defence the time to regroup. If could just trust himself to put the ball in without a 2nd touch at times...
Thought Greenie worked his bloody socks off again, seemed to bet the one communicating with the bench during the 2nd half to reorganise the team, quite impressed with him really and the way he carries himself on the pitch.

Agree with almost all - not so sure about Ward though. I though he was a bit average and effort wasn't at the level I would have liked.
To be fair though trying to play football in those conditions is a big ask and Ward is a ball player.
Highlight for me was Toto (5 foot nothing) heading on a Vuko clearance to Mac (6 foot something).
Thought for the brief time he was on Toto actually looked the most composed on the ball - everyone else was in panic mode by then.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Entertaining game ??you're 'avin a laugh ?one of the most boring games ever even though there were 3 goals and a red card....
I'd agree with you except the last 20 mins or so of the first half we played some very good stuff + we won so I don't give a sh*t how boring you thought it was
Vuka 8 Absolutely terrific. That was a goal for all money and his distribution was outstanding.
Siggy 7.5 One of his best games in a Nix shirt...at right back! Got forward well and nothing came down his side.
Dura 6 Did well first half, not so good when Lia went off. Few scuff clearances and stepped up when he shouldn't of.
North 7 Very solid signing this is turning out to be - played well in unfamiliar conditions
Manny 7 Much better than Lochy's previous performances - got forward well and controlled Fury's most dangerous player in Williams
Liability 4 Thought he was having a bad game then summed it up with that silly challenge. A typical bad Lia game and shows why he shouldn't be in the first 11 anymore.
Timmy 6 Did alright. Was tough in those conditions challenging for the ball in midfield but still won most of the 50/50 challenges
Ward 7 Should've scored but played well to combat their offside trap. Better than against Heart.
Leo 7.5 Agree with the original poster - very good game tarnished a little by the fact he dwelled on the ball a few too many times when in crossing positions. Pressured brilliantly, though.
Greenie 8 Again I agree with OP. Exactly what I was thinking all game - he had no right to win as many headers and flick ons as he did. He is going to have gammy knees soon from jumping so much. Did well to come back after getting a dirty elbow from Talay early in the game.
Daniel 6 Didn't have a good game but didn't do much wrong either - lacking some spark. Bit unlucky in the first half with the wind taking balls away from him.

manny, sig, vuko all with good games, all 7.5
great save from vuko, manny has done the job fantastic all season, no matter where he's put, sig all effort as usual and no error
leo's best of the season, but agree he could have played it in earlier several times, dangerous tho, so still 7.5
north solid 7
dura solid, except for that one missjudged rush out, thought he had a ragged ten minutes or so but otherwise good, to be fair he seemed to take a lot of responsibility and a lot of teh balls at the back 6.5+
daniel, couple of very good balls in, couple of nice pieces of interplay, defended fairly well, but didn't really get into the game in a big way 6+
ward, he lost it again in a dangerous position, but was covered, still the best creative player we have in midfield 7
lia seemed pretty sound, but for the two tackles ... 6
greenacre - does a lot of great stuff, but how many times was he offside? 7
brown - watched him for quite a bit of the game. Don't think he deserves all the flack he gets. He closes down opposition space, which is why the ball is often played away from him. A couple of very neat passes which opened up opportunites. 7
at the ground the first half was very entertaining, I thought, the Nix were playing well, could have been a goal or two more up, specially with Fury dishing it up to us
In the second half we seemed to have weathered the Fury lifting their game and were beginning to get back some better than 50/50 control when lia went off. Not a bad job from there including creating some chances of our own

Vukovic - 7 - Did nothing wrong all night. Had no chance of stopping the goal.
Dura and North - 5 - Average. Often players got in behind with the ball going over heads on the full or bounce. I struggle to tell the two of them apart at times from the usual camera view but I think Dura was more guilty than North.
Siggy - 7 - Monster. Up and down the wing, defended well, attacked fairly well.
Muscat - 6 - Performed his new job relatively free of mistakes.
Brown - 5 - Fairly anonymous
Lia - 5 - Same as Brown. Stupid tackle for second yellow though very hard done by for first yellow.
Ward - 7 - Played well. Moved forward and passed forward well. Looked to start things. So unfortunate he got Muscat's shot stuck under his boot.
Bertos - 7.5 - Ran at the defence and scored a nice goal.
Daniel - 6 - Did fairly well. Good to see him start.
Greenacre - 8.5 - Man of the match for me. Pounced on a mistake and kept his composure for the first goal. Hard done by, in my opinion, getting another goal ruled out. Applied the tackle which set up Bertos's goal. Ran hard all night, won a fair amount of ball and went for a few runs.
Subs:
Toto - 5 - Did nothing wrong but wasn't on long. Few passes and a terrible shot was all he had time for.
MacAllister - 5 - Only had 3 minutes. Giving him 5 on basis of him not having time to do good or bad. Could have done more with ball he won near the corner in their half.
Hearfield - 5 - Didn't stand out, no glaring failures. Though it seemed a number of attacks came down that side when he came on and though he specifically wasn't at fault we struggled horribly with them so maybe he wasn't doing something Siggy was.

Will be interesting to see on the replay whether Greenacre was caught repeatedly by an offside trap or if the linesman was just having a laugh.
We were looking at the replay of the disallowed goal for offside and kept running it backwards and forwards and its quite obvious to everyone that the defender was the one that touched it back so we were wondering from the linos angle, if it looks like it might have been a deflection? Thats the only reason why you'd give it cause O'Leary would have seen it and gone 'hang on'. A deflection puts him offside where he plays at it leaves him on. Depends because hes only got one view, one angle and whether it would create the illusion of being a deflection.
Either way, its a poor decision.

Vuka 8 Excellent all round and his quality distribution nearly got us a goal with that Leo counter attack.
Siggy 7 Good match from him, also was overlapping well.
Dura 5 Worst game for us so far?? was really poor..
North 7 Strong at the back. Held the line well.
Manny 7.5 Tidy performance.. Great going forward. Strong at the back.
Lia 4.5 Was playing well until he got sent off. Stupid.
Browny 5.5 hardly noticed him.
Ward 8 Really good playmaker.. set up a few chances. Solid.
Leo 8 Really good game. Maybe could've put his crosses in a bit earlier.
Daniel 6.5 Tried to make an impact and IMO he was decent.
Greenie 8 Worked hard. Deserved the goal he got.
Troy 5 did nothing wrong.
Big Mac 6 Did well won a few headers
Toto 6.5 Composed. Won a header.

Toto = 0 (just for balance)
Toto was fine - has some skill and tends to looks for the quick short pass rather the the ol' hoof. Much more skill than D Mac! Ward gives us options through the middle.
I thought it was a pretty fun game to watch, very exciting last 20 mins.
Please, no one say it was scrappy - all A-League games are scrappy.

It would depend on whether you consider a slightly miscued deliberate header a deflection. A bit of a grey area.

as for ratings, I would say:
Vukovich 8 ~ Great great reflex save, never really looked troubled, very unlucky goal
Sigmund 7 ~ didnt really have much come down his way, but was there every time, needs to get a handle on the crossing early
Durante 6.5 ~ was solid but was also dangerous at the end, letting balls bounce over him
North 7 ~ looked quality, little more communication needed between him and Dura perhaps?
Manny 7.5 ~ I think he was quality, in terms of him taking on Williams, did very well and got forward well, would have had another assist too
Lia 5.5 ~ he was trying to close down play in the midfield, but often does dive in a little dangerously, not as mobile as manny usually is.
Brown 6~ did push forward well, still disappears at points in the game, but was solid
Ward 7.5 ~ did have points where he gave the ball away, but playing higher up the pitch gives him great freedom. Links well with greeny + leo
Bertos 8 ~ good goal, got around the pitch, used his pace well for the first time in a while, earlier crosses would have been good
Greeny 8 ~ who needs two strikers? He finished well twice, and moved great, not sure bout his offsides, worked hard with great effect
Daniel 6.5 ~was solid, is a different player to season 1, but hes more reliable, still crosses well and looked to create at times
Toto 6 ~ give him time and think he will come right. Composed and didnt try something tricky every time. Plays early ball
Hearfield 5.5 ~ Some crosses still went over his head, didn't have much to do really even though we were on the back foot
Mac 6.5 ~ Held up the ball well and even broke away, think it'll be interesting when Pav is back
Vukovich 8 ~ Great great reflex save, never really looked troubled, very unlucky goal

Why then, did the flag not get raised until Greeny had the ball at his feet it he was ofside for a few seconds prior?

Because being in an offside position is not an offence in itself. Only when the player in an offside position interferes with play, an opponent, or gains advantage from being in the offside position he gets called for the offside offence.

My thought on Greenie ( clear cut offsides except perhaps once- not the example El G has schooled us all on either! in regular play) was that it is the first time anyone has been playing passes for him like this. Only happened since we got Ward.
