Reddy 8.5 tremendous again
Troy 6 Solid
Dura 8 Excellent reading of game
McKain 9 Always in the right place, great defending
Lochie 6 Solid
Lia 8 Excellent pressure on their midfield
Manny 7 Closed them down well, silly yellow card
Timmo 7.5 Another top performance
Ifill 8 a few stray passes but took that pen so well and put the pressure on when it wqs needed
Greenie 6 typical game
Caceres 5 too easily closed down
Dadi 5.5 close header, but a bit casual
Leo 5.5

What do you think??

First time I've ever commented on your ratings OOE....but you have to bump Greenacre up to at least an 8.  Otherwise, I concur.

Thought Leo was better than 5.5 - he looked sharp when he came on - I think he did enough to win back his starting spot.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

No way was Greenacre worth an 8.

lf1 is a serious greeniophile  thought he did really well but still not a goal threat, which irks me.

I thought Leo did really well in his short burst. got a bit of stick for rushing his cross to Dadi but had done brilliantly to create that chance and caused plenty of problems. looked sharp. good sign.

good to see hearfield have a very solid defensive game even if didnt get many opportunities to push on.

Just a few ammendments for me...

Reddy 9 tremendous again
Troy 6 Solid
Dura 8 Excellent reading of game
McKain 9 Always in the right place, great defending
Lochie 6 Solid
Lia 8 Excellent pressure on their midfield
Manny 8.5 Closed them down well, silly yellow card like a pitbull, had to be subbed off before he got redded
Timmo 7.5 Another top performance
Ifill 8 a few stray passes but took that pen so well and put the pressure on when it wqs needed
Greenie 8 typical game didnt score despite a couple of chances, but ran like a demon
Caceres 7 too easily closed down several good crosses, several good tackles
Dadi 5.5 close header, but a bit casual
Leo 7 was a good sub for caceres, plenty of pace but couldnt put the usual pinpoint point crosses across

What do you think??

At least an 8? Wow. Way, way too generous there LF1.

I mostly agree, however I think that despite the well taken penalty there is no way Ifill should get an 8. Usually I'm a huge fan of his but he gave the ball away far far too many times, I'd probably drop him to a 5.

I'd also give Leo an extra point.

Don't think Greeny was an 8- he just didn't threaten goal despite a few good opportunities. But his distribution and retention of possession was great, and he should have had an assist for his chip for Dadi.

I have to agree that Manny deserves to be up too. Not a silly yellow, but good commitment to a 50/50 while Matthew Breeze was reffifng.

caceres though was poor. I wasn't impressed with his performance at the ROF even though he had a few shots, most were wide, and didn't threaten today.

Also would bump up Bertos, a couple of very shart runs, showing some of his early-season form.  Good chance we'll see him starting this week I reckon.

I still think Thwaite should have got the yellow in the clash with Manny, not Manny.

McKain and Dura were immense last night, they close everything down. Hardly surprising that most of GC's chances were from long range.

Much as I love Siggy I can't see him getting a start any time soon.

I've seen a suggestion that these 2 should be in contention for an A League based Roos squad. Would be deserved in my book.

PS. Why on earth did the Roar let Reddy go? Hope we can convince him to stay next season. However, on that theme i have 2 words for Dadi: Bye bye.

Dadi has a weird style, and a habit of stopping on the ball that makes me think he's been caught off or the whistles gone or he's done a hammy or something...

Kinda falling somewhere in between lazy and casual and bizarre.

Ifill lost possesion twice in midfield at a vital time of the game (late in the second half) that could have cost us (remember him also losing possesion versus Melbourne and conceding?).
He farts around too much at the wrong time in the wrong place for my liking. Fart around beating a few players up front for  sure, but in the midfield when we are hanging on for a 1-0 result....no thanks!
This part of his game lets the other good things he does down.

I love the McKain Durante partnership, Siggy is awesome, but these two are playing so well.

It is great that players like Siggy and Leo and co can't get into the first team, great squad depth in most areas we have developed.

Muscat gets a 1 until he stops acting like a c**t, one day he'll do some serious damage to us.

WTF ?

Muscat got a yellow card for being fouled by Thwaite.  Hopefully the decision is appealed.

But wasn't the yellow because Manny went in with his studs up?
Permalink Permalink

Yea, he did go in studs up. Ref must have called it for dangerous play. It's on these highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YrfoRhMjuc

And I'd forgotten about Durante hitting the post in the first half!

Thwaite comes flying in with a two foot tackle of which he had little control. Muscat gets a yellow card for dangerous play.

Yeh I agree, but he still complains about everything and even on a yellow card didn't exactly "play safe"

I don't think they'd overturn that one on an appeal.

Manny is a bit of a'find' as a midfielder i reckon

he'll have too manage his aggression (arousal levels) but he's developing a good ability to read the game in the centre of the park and close players down and nip in for an intercept

he's looking more confident in possession and picking his passing options better with each match

if we were a kids team with a most improved player award  - i'd be picking between Manny and Troy

They both were studs up, Manny from above and Thwaite from along the ground. Yellows all round would have been fair
