That must be a form of torture! Awesome performance overall, but certainly far from perfect!
Reddy 9.5 Won us the game with the penalty saves
Troy 5.5 Not his usual self, looked for the penalty instead of taking them on to the bye line whicj he is usually so good at
Dura 7 Showed leadership, brilliant run the length of the field
McKain 6?? Not sure, dodgy tackles, red card, but could well have won us the game with his actions!
Lochie 6 Excellent defensive headers at the back post
Ifill 6 Some grand moments, but faded badly
Timmo 6.5 Solid work, sometimes caught too far forward
Lia 6 ditto
Manny 8 Outstanding in midfield and defence, and those runs behind their defence, what a pity his chip went over Dadi's head. He deserved to set up the winner
Greenie 6.5 Yay he scored
Leo 7 Ran at them all day and put the most pressure on
Caceres 5.5 Didn't really get into the game, took his pen well
Dadi 5.5 Good defensive headers
Siggy not much chance to shine

Is that it?
Crowd and YF 9.5 awesome

Whaddya reckon??

Thought we generally weren't that good. Watching the highlights they had a lot more clear cut chances. Reddy was excellent though I'd give him a 10.

I'd knock Dura up an extra one for some incredible second half defending.

Not often i disagree with you OOE,but think you have under estimated Brown.Thought he was immense tonite and would imagine he is stuffed because he seemed to be every where.Thankfully at the right time mostly as well.

Brown and Lia should get 7s, they did a sh*t load of running

Lia looked out on his feet after 80. Don't know how he managed another 40. Him and Brown will be wasted after 120 mins.

Greenie did better that 6.5 methinks.  Won a lot of ball up front.  Same with Dadi - passed a lot of long balls back off his head and chest to the midfield to move forward, and that kept us up the right end of the field for good stretches of time.  Both up .5

Yeah, I agree re Dadi - actually did a lot of good work for us in front third plus some crucial defensive clearances, so well up on 5.5. And Tim Brown ran his guts out, distributed better than I think I've seen before from him and held his hand up for the penalties: 7.5 at least.

Other than that largely agree with OOE.

Tim Brown has to get more points. He was the one who got the lucky headband onto the pitch.

I agree, along with Lia too, they were both outstanding, their workrate was immense...

I was at the game, and have watched it again on TV.

Consensus amongst those around me was the same.

When Dadi plays we become one dimensional. Long balls to a man who runs only  one line, rarely runs the channels, and is too slow to get onto any through balls or into the box when we go get in behind the opposition (which is RARE when we play hopless long balls upfield to the stagnant Dadi)

Perth's defenders lapped up the long balls, far too easy to mark a stagnent striker with the ball coming onto them, face on.

I prey we do not use Dadi again this year. His inclusion turns us in to a long ball team and we stop doing what we are good at...that being geting down the byeline and in behind the defence causing trouble with crosses that force the defenders to face the "wrong" way.

Any rating above 4 for Dadi is far too high in my opinion.

Well agree with this, much frustration in the second half for this very reason.

Seem to remember him running the channels in his fiorst game against Brisbane.

He can hardly be blamed for having long balls launched to him, we had still had players on the park e.g. Caceres who were capable of getting wide and running at defenders. When you're under the pump, it's useful to have an out that you can get the ball to who'll hold it up for you.

He wasn't spectacular by any means but I thought he did ok yesterday

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Dadi's best game since his debut, I feel.  Did what he had to do, was there when we did launch some up, controlled most of them well and even defended well.

Brisbane in irrelavent.

You are right , it's  not his fault. He is what he is. He is not up to this level of football. It's finals football now, we need our best out there, not a 36 year old has been.

We were under the pump because we weren't putting them under any pressure because of the style of play we reduced ourselves to by employing him and using these tactics.

This is not our strength.

I do apologise. Of course it's irrelevant. Making an observation in response to a sweeping generalistaion is always irrelevant isn't it? Given the nature of discussing personal opinions, what is relevant or is irrelevant is purely subjective. You obviously have a dislike of the player involved, which is fine.

I thought Bertos was sh*thouse yesterday, but I'm launching a crusade against him.

This is not personal, so dunno why you want to become facetious.

I've not made a sweeping generalization at all. I've made my commnts from being at every single Nix game in NZ and watching replays in the company of other blokes that have played and coached fotball for 40 + years.

I'm trying not to make smart comments in response to you, but perhaps try watching more than just the ball.

Managed to trip over the ball atleast twice, 25m out from goal - shoot or lay off to shot sort of range just tackled himself.
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

I deleted my original comment because I knew how this would go and I can't really be bothered.

Just as an aside I have played and coached football, both here and in the UK, at a reasonably high level, for a a great number of years so I do tend to watch considerably more than the ball and believe I am entitled to air my opinions, irrelevant or not.

Anyway. Carry on.

Fair enough, I can identify with your experience too.

We shall agree to differ.
