Excuse my ignorance/ lack of knowledge bt how do we know who has a two year contract and will be with us next season, and who will be gonskies?  I know they can just release and pay out contracts for them if they want to get them out but otherwise i'm really confused

daniels got a 2 year contract theres a lot of people who just had a one year one but they will probably resign

#16) Kristian Rees
#17) Vince Lia
#18) Ahmad Elrich
#21) Felipe Campos (contract actually ends in March 08)
 
Andwe would obviously want to keep some of them

hasnt felipe signed a new one since he actually wasnt injured apperantley and that was just waiting to play him so he would sign a new contract apparently

I thought Felipe had resigned. Mind you, what do I know!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Yup, I did mean that he had put pen to paper and renewed his contract. 

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Has he though??   Surely that would warrant a big announcement from the club -- press conference, bells and whistles.

Haven't seen anything at all on it, but I certainly hope he has

Dunno if he has or not. Sure I heard it mentioned somewhere or other that he had.

I hope Rees re signs for us. He's done well at the back.

I agree Rees has been a good addition. Slow, especially turning, but smart, positionally sound, and gives confidence. Just can't let him get stranded or else he gets skinned easily. But I really think he has made a huge difference at the back.

I think we could probably get a better player than Rees. He comes off as a stop-gap measure to me. Dodd and Lochhead are the only defenders I would keep and maybe O'Dor to see if he gets any better..

I think the improvement in our defence has come from having a back 3 - not necessarily Rees.

One of the commentators, and then an Aussie came on and said the thing about the injury being faked. Without seeing him play with said injury.

Since nothing has come out of the club, I'm expecting not.

I read in the Dom early in the season that Felipe had extended his contract for 2 years

The back 3 thing has definitely improved things. Better let one defender make the mistake and have another cover him and fix it, than general confusion reign between two players who want to treat the ball like a hot potato between themselves. That cost us a whole swag of goals.

with a back three you have very little cover, its pretty much man for man. Its meant to be that you have more cover in front of you, with the midfield cutting off the passes and tracking back with the runners. If they don't do their job the defenders are buggered.

Yeah, the back three and expansive end to end style of the A-League, couple with Ahmed's laziness/lack of fitness on the right wing to coverdoes leave Rees exposed sometimes, I hope that position or the appropriate formations are improved on for next season.

i believe it will be, from the way things have gone this season i don't think Ricki intended to end up playing this kind of formation.

the 3-5-2 was pretty much forced on him with the lack of solid defenders and the leaking of goals we were facing, especially since Cleberson didnt work. heres hoping that with more time and a more solid base Ricki will get closer to what he wants

Yep, and it will need the midfield to re-think some of their defensive responsibilities, that probably means everyone except Felip or whoever will sit behind the front two. Johnson and Lia are good defensively, and Ferrante works hard. The right side maybe is a bit of a problem area currently.........
