Yeah, I was thinking about that too, and when you go through last seasons roster. Paston has improved. Lochhead definitely. Brown I'd say is about even. Leo has improved. Daniel has improved. Hearfield is showing signs at times. Mulligan hasn't had the chance. Siggie is sort of same. Dura has been much better. Ferrante hasn't really offered much at all. Can't remember about McKain. Manny is looking decent as well.

Though, as Valeo rightly said, this is the A-League and they will all go up and down form wise quite rapidly.

Sorry but I'm not at all surprised by any single player. But the record for the number of draws we have achieved is the main surprise for me.AllWhitebelievr2009-11-02 23:19:23

Sigmund is probably our most consistent players. He can have an off-night like Sunday; they happen so rarely.

Lochhead has been playing well this season.

If you forgive Sunday's aberration, it seems like the whole team has been gelling well this year.

All the young players, and fringe players are stepping up this year.

Last season i dont remember seing such enthusiasm and dedication by players from the bench. This is really improving the competition for places and the success on the pitch has been because of it. This all started when macro rojas came onto the pitch and has shown that New Zealand does have young, skilled players hidden away samewhere.

Yellow fever need to find more of these players and give them similar scholorships, one or two each season will be fenominal.

surprised by the fact that depsite Michael ferrante being a professional footballer who trains daily, he still can't hit a barn door, and when he has featured he has passed the ball worse than in his first two seasons

The telling fact is how many individual players seem to have stepped up from last year.  Paston, Lochhead, Durante, Daniel, Lia/Brown combination and Costa come to mind.  Muscat, Siggy, Bertos & Hearfield (limited chances) good as ever.  Plus the new arrivals.

Frankly we've looked a different team this year.  The two losses to Sydney aside we've never been dominated.  Contrast to the first two seasons where we were usually even at best on run of play, then saved by some Smeltz/Moss magic.

I think the current squad is more balanced and would beat the Season 1 team on average fairly easily.  Progress.

= +5 -> ricki, coaching staff, management and Terry S.  Selection, training, recruitment, squad culture/attitude and funding.  All round well run club.  And I can't bitch any more about only one striker. ;)
