Playing Strip 2008/09

Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know if the playing strip is going to be the same next season?

I seem to recall hearing back in the Knights days that Reebok had an exclusive deal with the A-League for the first 3 years of the competition and that after that teams were able to choose their own kit suppliers.  Is that still the case or has the FFA extended the deal?

And yes I am wondering if we'll ever go to yellow and black stripes!

Also, is the silly rule about the away team having to always wear white going to stay?  I can't see the point if there's no clash in colours, but its all about selling more tops I suppose.

The home and away shirt this coming season are the same as last season. There will be a new range of other apparel i.e tracksuits, polos, tee shirts etc.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Melbourne don't wear white.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah, but those b******s are a law unto themselves. Stupid grey away strip and that ugly 'V' thing on the home shirts.

Fener are yellow and navy blue though. AEK are yellow and black, they used to have striped shirts but they didn't look that great.

Maybe for next season they could go along the same lines as Aris, greek club.

That's an incredibly nice looking kit. Just needs to be reebok and we're all set.

Three for me, and two for them.

I think it's all about minimising cost in fact Mossman.

The idea is/was that if the A League negotiated the kit deal centrally it would reduce the cost to all clubs (economies of scale and all that).  In a new league I think it makes sense.  The all-white-away-kits thing was similar - lower the cost by everyone using the same shirt design.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Reebok don't/can't /won't do stripes.
Deal with it.

That's why I said "something like". I mean with yellow and black, yes.

And am I correct in saying Reebok will continue to have a monopoly on clubs' shirts even beyond Season 4?

Yeah that's what I was thinking.. Pass on the bumble bees.
Maybe do something with the phoenix image or something...
I don't know, but not stripes. I don't really mind our current kit anyway.

Really?

I think strips give it another dimesion and the way the Aris strip is laid it its not just stripes it breakes down the sleeve which makes it look classy.

The one we got now is boring. Nothing to it, i knw u dont want to overdo a strip but i think we under did it.

I agree there's not really enough going on with our current kit.
I guess I'm just anti stripes... Even if they are 'slimming'... El**ch would have loved them.

Even if they do a 'Blackburn' half and half or have a yellow shirt with black shorts/decals I'd be happy.  Certainly want to see the yellow come out in the 09/10 season.

This is a mock of the Dortmund kit. Something like this would be cool, then might negate the bumble bee comments

I'd rather the crest was smaller and over the heart though. In fact FFA might demand that so that the club and league logos are symetrically placed.

Other than that the single stripe idea has captured my heart somewhat.

But still to the left-hand side. Under the left breast, where club badges generally go.

Leaked photo of the prototype kit for 2009/10, sported by our very own George.

The Dortmund kit looks good. It's all down to Reebok though isn't it, ans if that sort of design doesn't fit thir prototype designs, then it ain't happening. I have a replica shirt, and would be more than happy to get another year out of it though. Maybe after this next season Reebok will come up with a new design.

By sticking with last year's playing strip I reckon the Phoenix have lost a great marketing opportunity and a chance to stand out.  The current strip is boring and is basically copying the Football Kingz and the NZ Knights.  Absolutely no originality.  A more eye-catching strip would go a long way to better promoting the club.  Some of the examples above are fantastic.  Surprised that Terry S approved the current design given he has a flair for fashion.  Can't see why the FFA or Rebook should have any problem with the Phoenix taking the initiative to market itself better.

Because it's part of the conditions of being an A-league club, it could possibly be grounds for expulsion if we refuse to wear the kit the A-League wants at this stage. I assume of course it's part of the contract between clubs and the FFA.

Yeah like the Dormund one and the udinese.

Yellow is that way to go, and stripes, stripes are the sh*t.

Aris one looks wicked man. Would love the nix to adopt that.

Responding to one of the comments above - something to do with logo - what do you want like a big phoenix in the middle of the shirt? How gimmicky.
