Post Adelaide - the ugly.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I want to share something with you. Let me give you the picture...
On the concourse after the match on Friday two drunks threatened me.  They were going to kick my head in... and stuff.  To raise their ire I had committed the crime of walking too slowly. My friends and I take my elderly parents to the match who shuffle a bit. So we're usually the last to leave the stadium to let all the "youngsters" get away.
Anyway, Idiot 1 came up behind me and made "comment" about me being slow. To which I point to the parents and say "there's a good reason for that". He then pushed me out of the, swore at me, and disappeared.

Only to come back, a minute later, with his mate, Idiot 2, and, the two of them, start the posturing. They were both very drunk. They stopped when my three friends caught up with me.

After the Sydney game we'd seen a guy, again very drunk, being restrained by mates after he tried to take a pop at a guy for wearing, I am not making this up, a blue shirt.

Not entirely sure what the answer is but I know I am not alone is seeing these after match incidents. The common factor is always, no prizes here, ALCOHOL.

The guys are idiots before the alcohol.  It doesnt matter were you go there will always be the dickheads out there.
I have noticed that when people are leaving there doesnt seem to be security around.  Maybe the stewards need to be lined around the walkways after the game and have a few of them walking in the crowd as we leave.  As im sure yours is not the only incident like that to happen as we leave.

Thats not a bad idea, there are a lot of idiots on the walkway as you leave the game. Though like spurs says, there are always going to be idiots.

Allegedly

Saying that I thought we policed the incident with the one idiot who threw the bottle at the friday night match well, ok we did'nt know exactly who it was but he and no other idiots tried it again. Good work fever people!

As said above - its more the people than the alcohol. We had been drinking but no way would we even think of starting any trouble for a guy walking his elderly parents home.

The funny thing is that those unique brand of f**kwits are the type who only turn up to sporting events when the occasion is huge (like last night) or when the home team's on top (which ain't the case for our guys, unfortunately), so hopefully that'll be the end of their tenure.

Wearing the oppo team's colours to a game is a bit retarded, though.

Not justifying his behaviour, he's a dick, but you might expect a bit of stick if you rocked up to MVFC v SFC wearing baby blue and hung 'wiv da boyz on da terras'!!

Andy anderson  muso from the 70s - drummer i think reckoned that when he looked back on his drinking, after he'd sorted out that he was an alcoholic, that he should have worn a t-shirt saying "instant areshole -just add alcohol"

sad but true for some

to be honest i really don't understand being pissed at a match , after perhaps - but for me it just stuffs up the intensity of a game

Not a football shirt or even close to one. He was just wearing a blue shirt...

Instant Arsehole just add alcohol - PMSL. This thread is the first I have heard of any greif. I think if some pissed clown sparked up, the other sober fans might join in to stop it. I would hope so. I hope the elderly gentleman enjoyed the game and if he is in front of me, he can take his time. It's called respect for your elders.

Side issue comment, I snuck into Ailse 20 at half time last night  and it was a bit quiet so my nephew who was there for the whole game started up and got a few older fans going. I think they just needed the encouragement as they seemed to keep it up afterwards. Even some Asian tourists/students behind us joined in. Good to see others leading others into joining in with the singing.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

It's pretty sad that the stewards feel the need to police the FZ after one person threw a beer bottle, and yet let things like this happen in the concourse. They're doing their job as well as Ticketek are doing theirs.

You can tell yourselves over and over again that it's the people who are just idiots, but alcohol does add to it and make it worse.

You would hope that no sober person would hassle someone walking their elderly parents out of the stadium. That's just low and pathetic.

I blame P, global warming and bear baiting.

On their own they're bad enough. But together combined, a scourge...

After one of the games a mate of mine was wearing his Torres black away Liverpool shirt and a couple of guys started getting abusive.  Sure it's a rubbish shirt, and the other guy liked Arsenal, but this cock was getting really aggro.  Guess what - pissed!  We were in sufficient numbers to resolve the issue if it had been necessary but it wasn't.  Message to the little hard men - if you can't take your liquor don't!  (And don't wear Liverpool shirts - crap club, crap shirts.)
