What do we expect Kopy to say... its a sharke league?

Every player talks up the league they are in until they go to another one. Means nothing

No, this was a quote given by Rudan directly from Kopy. He wasn't saying it to the media. Rudan is the one who relayed this.

Paracki also said he was struggling with the a league, mainly the pace of it.

Did here? Here are the only quotes I can find;

"I can't wait for the championship to start because I'm not used for the pre-season to be this long," he said.

"In Europe, it's just one and a half months. Me and all the guys can't wait for Sunday at the game against Adelaide - after three months of just training, you want something to play for, for points."

Paracki says it's been easy to slot into the Phoenix fold, and get a handle on Kalezic and assistant coach Rado Vidosic's possession-based style of football.

Wellington have bolstered their midfield after losing three stalwarts from last season in Roly Bonevacia, Alex Rodriguez and Vince Lia.

Brazilian Gui Finkler remains, as does Michael McGlinchey - although he is away this weekend with the All Whites - while Vidosic's son Dario returns to the A-League from an Asian stint to add to the Phoenix's options through the middle.

Paracki is enjoying coming to grips with Kalezic's challenging game plan.

"It's like high pressure, and keep the ball at our feet - it's not very easy to do, because you must work like this for long periods," he said.

"It's easier to just punch the ball forward, but you must play and keep the ball in your possession. It's much tougher.

"We're looking forward to Sunday to show how we play and what we can do."

I also seem to remember him saying he struggled with the pace of the league

Comments from Rudan re: Kopy;

"He’s only been here for 10 days, and our league is very transitional. Against Roar he said he felt it was very tough."

Wonder how he'll go tonight? Obviously still settling in, but I feel like he's our most important signing so far. If he finds it tough, we will struggle this season.

Most of the Polish national team that honked like a flock of geese at the WC in Russia were not home based, and Kopa is not even at that level.   In contrast, I expect to see a decent quality performance from Kurto.

Watching Kopczynski play would be a useful guide on the quality of a your average local player in Polish Ekstraklasa.

Above average? I mean, he was the starting midfielder in a Championship winning side.

Nah I'd say he was very average. Only had one season where he played regularly, and has been completely phased out of the team by now. Would be an average player for most Ekstraklasa sides imo, probably makes him a very good player here though and I'm excited to see what he brings to the team

Bentleigh Green $4.75
Wellington Phoenix $1.55
Draw $3.75

The TAB have a surprising amount of faith in us, they normally offer worst odds than the Aussie sites. Sportsbet has Bentleigh at $4.20

To me, things are looking pretty positive for this season:

Rudan quoted on Fox Sports website this week:

"It’s a really good, happy group, and I’m big on having a strong dressing room. Andrew Durante says it hasn’t been like this for five or six years, it’s very upbeat."

What are the odds of finding a stream you reckon? I'm not sure I have it on me to drag myself out to the pub.

Bentleigh Greens goalie Ryan Scott is a Toons fanatic and came to NZ four years ago to see Newcastle play the Nix:

FFA Cup‏ @FFACup    2 hours ago

Four years ago, @RScott__ took a photo with Steven Taylor during @NUFC's pre-season trip to NZ.

Tonight, Scott and his @BentleighGreens team-mates take on Taylor and Wellington Phoenix in the #FFACup!

How good is ? #MagicOfTheCup

Apparently the Greens' main goal-scoring threat is striker Matt Thurtell who scored a hat-trick in their 4-4 draw in the Victoria Premier League on the weekend.

That's all I know about them, folks`!!!

Count me in for the weekend games; am away from ChCh for work tonight, but overall it would be great to have our local group here back again. Last season we missed the organising skills and general leadership of Sackofspuds as he was unavailable.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Oh so Sackofspuds is an individual and not the collective noun for a gathering of Christchurch based Phoenix Supporters then...

The only stream being promoted is for the "Gould Kost Nayts" game against the Jets which follows this one (original spelling on HaHa Sports).

Quite tough watching us playing with out a nine. Struggling to press high up the pitch without one and no central focal point to the attack. We look solid though.
