Wellington needs a Pub/Bar with Fox Sport. We need our Fix Live.

How do you think they would get fox sports?

At the moment we get it through a sky decoder. But as has been said before Sky will delay some games. Their must be a way to get a fox subscription in NZ.

Well, if Fox is broadcast with Satellite it could be possible.

Much easier for someone to just watch the games online.

Well the satellite beam that Foxtel is on does not broadcast into New Zealand direct. So you can�t just have a dish and hope (or a Sky dish). I have read reports that you might start getting the signal here by using at least a 3 metre solid dish. But then you would need the smart card and that is impossible to get legally in New Zealand (you have to reside in Australia).

Then there is the problem of broadcast rights crossover. Sky�s legal team don�t take too kindly to people screening outside of rights area broadcasts. You used to be able to get Setanta Sports legally in New Zealand until last year when Sky asked them to stop broadcasting the overseas rugby that they had to New Zealanders, the problem was that the Setanta signal that you picked up here was the same channel that an Aussie subscriber got. So Setanta couldn�t just put something else on for New Zealand customers while the event was on. Meaning that all subscribers here got cut off (and refunded) and you can�t get it here anymore.

The BB has looked into various sources and whilst we would be able to get SBS from Australia, i think fox would require a dish too large for our building ( it had been brought up in theory with the residents of the apartments we are adjacent too and they weren't keen)

The only reason its illegal is because Sky etc pay money to show the games, which is why tyhey scharge sub fees. For people to get it another way, for free and then broadcast it (i.e in a bar) Sky would not be happy.

however, if Sky doesnt have exclusive a-league rights in NZ then a bar could theoretically do a deal with Fox Sports. but then you'd have to deal with the A-league directly too. Too much effort for what it is really
