I was quoted in the Sky Sport Magazine this month for an article on the Phoenix, which focused partly on Jeremy Christie as he has now been a part of all 3 franchise setups in New Zealand.

In the article, I mentioned that the general opinions that were canvassed from this forum suggested that Christie was signed purely as a backup for Richard Johnson, in the event that he was prosecuted for his driving incident earlier this year.

The interview was scheduled before any of the pre-season matches.

As it happens, I personally felt that Jeremy had an outstanding game against Sydney, and proved that he is a very capable player and fully deserves his place in the squad. I apologise to you Jeremy, after seeing your display for any suggestion otherwise.

Like anything, I think it is important to admit when you have made a mistake, or when you are wrong. As with all media, I made a call on how I felt about it at the time, so am pleased for him to have proved me wrong, and to also have proved that he is a solid asset to the Phoenix forthe season ahead (he had a solid game from all accounts last night as well).

If you happen to read this, send me a PM to let me know your thoughts - I owe you a beer!

Cheers,
Adam Brown (Cnut)

Same too - never rated Christie at Perth, but thought he put in a strong effort ...also thought Old was on his game too....

I hold my hand up too.  I had dubious feelings about Jeremy Christie's signing for the Phoenix. I watched him play a great game against Sydney at the Ring of Fire and read that he has played well again down there in ChCh.  Good one Jeremy! Keep it up!!!!  I too have been proved wrong! But glad to be so!

simply saying that someone was shocking is a wynton rufuresque level of bad analysis

the guys and i who went along thought he was crap. his defence was poor near the end where he messed up many long balls, and also saw a few funny little stunts where he thought he had the ball and ran of when he didnt.

its a matter of opinion. For me he was dreadful. to you he might of bin good.

Lochead was far worse for the majority of the game... (sorry Tony, cant lie to the people...final 20 was good though)

there were a number of times where JC was playing great support to the guys upfront, his passing was decent and he seemed to be everywhere...if Daniel had stayed on his feet...the work rate of JC wouldnt have had to be so high

i could understand if the mods had something against ya (not that they would be that petty...)

TBH the majority of the teams defence was shakey...im not saying JC was 100% brilliant, but at the same time i dont think any of them were...or even close to it

It was me that said Dodd was Doddgey, however you will have to excuse myself and others for getting our defense a bit muddled up as to who was the worst.  They all seemed to give the ball away or just thump it up to the forwards aka Knights and Kingz.  Same sh!te, different wrapper.

that's strange cos against sydney they pretty much did the opposite...cleberson was guilty of it, but the other at least tried to keep it calm and use short passes and keep possession...i guess qnsld might have been more persistant on attack and rattled them more

Im with the rest, there was almost no attempt made to play any football in chch. It wasnt so much straight long ball play but a sort of muddled cross breed of medium range passes not going to feet and then if they did the receiving player would slip or lose the ball. Christie was by no means the only guilty party, Personally i didnt pick out any one player as being shocking (other than the brazilian #21) was just a disjointed team performance.

i was a bit disapointed at how our defenders would just try and boot the ball as hard as they could,  have it go high and pray it would go in the right place...

im pretty sure Dodd was the worst offender of just booting the sh*t out of it and praying for success (couldnt really see it at times, apologies if ive nabbed the wrong one) it seems to be a major problem in most football ive watched in this country (that and actually having the guts to take a shot)

hopefully it was just nerves/new strategy.....i dunno, maybe we all have high standards
