Hi,
I've recently moved to NZ (living in Blenheim) and I'm thinking about going to Wellington to watch the Phoenix against Melbourne Victory next Sunday.
But I've got a couple of questions:
- How many people do you reckon will attend the game?
- How much are the tickets? Will I be able to buy on the day at the stadium? I've had a look at the website but as far as I can see, I can't buy tickets through the official website.
- Where will people generally be drinking before the game? Is there an official pre-match pub near the ground?
- How long can I expect it to take, to get from the stadium to the airport?
Looking forward to be watching my first A-League game.
Originally from Denmark, where I support my local team Odense.
Spent 8 years in London where I went to most of the Charlton Athletic games.

$23.00.  Buy from www.ticketek.com or there should be gate sales.
[QUOTE=danepak]- Where will people generally be drinking before the game? Is there an official pre-match pub near the ground?

Yes, the Backbencher.  op[posite Parliament, Molesworth Street.
[QUOTE=danepak]- How long can I expect it to take, to get from the stadium to the airport?

30 minutes at the most, maybe as little as half that.

Nice one!
See you in the pub then .

Just one more question:
What's your expectations to this season?
I know that the bookies expect the Phoenix to be the weakest team, but you've had some good pre-season results, right?

Realistically I reckon fifth. Not bad for our first season.

Ok, cheers.
So you reckon Melbourne will win on the 26th then?

I'm picking a 1-1 draw.

Actually we've got every right to be confident of a win, but I think it would be a bit unfair for the fans to have an expecation on the players to work miracles in their first season. They could potentially make the top four, but if they just miss out then it has still been a very good season.

Hey Danepak

Welcome to the YF zone.....be sure to come over on the Saturday if you can because thats the official opening of the new Phoenix Megastore in Cuba Mall.  Some of the players will be there and a band and BBQ (I think) and it will add to a great exciting weekend in Welli.  Be sure to be at the Bencher on Sunday from midday so you'll meet a few of the YF boys and get caught up in the atmosphere that builds......

Good on you mate, hope you're not the only one joining us from down south during the season.

(I'm doing the somewhat reverse myself next month - going to
Blenheim to watch Bay of Plenty vs Tasman in the ANZ cup...okay thats apples and oranges...well, footballs and eggs... )

I watched my first Tasman Makos game last Friday and I intend to go to a few Phoenix games too.
It's not the cheapest travel though, so it's definitely not going to be every single game that I'll be watching.
I love being here in NZ, but I miss catching a train up north at 8am on a Saturday morning from London Kings Cross, to watch my Charlton Athletic play some random team from up there (which we normally lost to anyway, haha).
But I'm really looking forward to a bit of boozing next Sunday!
Cheers!

P.S. Pop in to Biddy Kates after the Bay of Plenty game. Always a great place to have a few pints.

Cheers for the tip :P I've never been there before and don't know anyone down there so advice always helps, especially when relating to pubs!
