Nice little ironic emphasis on the word 'metrics' there from Piney.

Man of the Match: Tratt. No one else seems to give a shark or do anything offensively.

Been great on attack and defence.

Should be 10+ mins of injury time.

Jesus that's D grade acting skills there from the defender. Pathetic.

Acting that bad deserves retrospective bans. What a joke.

shouldn't have expected first up home win anyway. Need to put two on the corner dweller

It's all gotten really ugly now. Nix look stuffed.

Well, they had one 1v1 and put it away. Krishna had two and fudgeed them both up.

Dissapointing performance.

Coaches throughout the world should be lining up to get tapes of this game for video analysis

The last 15 minutes was a great example on how not to play against 10 men

Really did not deserve a result.

when they went down to 10 men, it was about even. The Nix should be allowed 12 players for the rest of the season.

Only round 1 and we were missing our All whites. Yes we should have got a draw after they got a red card

Kosta was a big loss - the others, not so much

Positives: only 0-1 (expected 3), Tratt looks promising, nice to see Rogerson get a run, decent crowd figure.

Hopefully Ernie will giving over the game to see what we did wrong and work on that in training. Can't wait see the rest of the squad back to see what we can do this season.

Fudging Vince Lia's fault again!

Dura surely a loss?

Thought Rogerson and Parkhouse at least gave it a crack going forward. Roly and A-Rod didn't offer too much.

I thought that Roderson looked good on his debut.  Its a pity that we will be in week 3 before our team is settled.  All Whites get back late next week and then they are off to Perth

Parkhouse got absolutely tortured in the first half and we were lucky that Melbourne felt so sorry for him they kept the ball on the other side in the second half

The result doesn't sound too bad considering the makeshift backline. As far as I'm aware, two of the players had never played at that level before, let alone played together.

Has any other team that has played so far, looked like they are going to be better than the Nix? Not from what I've read.

Still pretty steamed up at Roy for not squaring that ball for Rogerson to tap in. Really awful, Totori-esque stuff.

Tratt did well. Krishna did too, a shame he didn't pass to Rogerson, but he's a striker, he shot on target. Surprised to see Watson dragged at half time.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

All pretty poor. Krishna almost with a pass mark until he didn't pass.

Really dumb play to keep fouling constantly. City  clearly the better and smarter team all game ; horribly disappointing

Of course, the usual suspects will come out with the same rhetoric -doesn't matter, first game of season, excuses etc etc.

If we ever want to get good crowds and stay in the league, we need to play far far better at home. A good crowd tonight too, with none of those being retained because we played horrid.

Yes, all 3 teams look better than us. Still, Kosta and Durable might help.

I feel like the issues are our midfield though.

what's our plan on attack? dinky dink dinky dink dinky whoops?

during that first half i kept thinking why is vince Lia playing central while Bonevacia is pushed out wide, and where is Alex Rodriguez.    The best you could say about him is anonymous.  Quite odd we sign a guy as a wide forward then play him at left back but also sign Lowry who is a left fullback.  We deserved to lose

I thought there was no width out there today though you could say the same thing last season. Hopefully Barbarouses on the wing fixes that. I also don't think Krishna as a striker is the best position for him - he is best on the wing as well. We just look like a one track team which is very easy to play against. Also there was no link up play between the defence to the midfield.

Tow of the players have never played at that level; that means nothing, we have to be able to rely on these guys!!!! This isn't central 3...

Basically our central midfield was non-existant.  Luke Bratten made the much vaunted A Rod look like an amateur.  Lots of people on here say A- Rod does the stuff you don't see, as per usual I didn't see him do anything
