we've looked tired for weeks.

Subs made a huge difference, Rudan seems to leave them so late though.

Roy cost us the points today - as much as I like him he should not be taking another penalty

How about the guy scoring every week - Williams? He may have a decent shot on him

Laughable to think we wouldn't offer Moss a 2 year contract and went for Italiano and Smith

Second match I've watched today with my team drawing and missing a penalty in the dying minutes. FML. I hate football.

I really dislike O’Donovan

Cillian must be pissed that he’s come all this way for 10 minutes game time every week.

I don't want Krishna anywhere near another penalty. Even the ones he scores aren't convincing.

Manny Muscat, is that you?   :-}

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Roy's penalties costed the team 3 points in recent weeks, Rudan, please no more penalties for Roy.

He should've come on at the 60th minute. Made such a huge difference.

Good to see Rudan looking after Roy just then.

We might be pissed. Roy will be devastated.

Frustrated that Krishna had to take the pen.

Delirious that we got away with a draw, after some of the Newcastle chances (how on earth did they miss the one, where they hit the post???).

Strange feeling. I would have taken a point prior to kickoff, but Krishna, you've cost us 3 points from the penalty spot (Sydney and tonight). You're gold for us throughout the 90 mins on the field, but no more penalties. NO MORE!!!

Fricking Krishna. Good player but he should never ever take a pen anymore. It’s getting ridiculous. Two points lost, stupid.

Very hard to take the pens off a guy chasing the most goals. And someone has to take them when Sheridan is off the pitch. So not sure there is an easy answer.

Permalink Permalink

I'll leave this here. If you watch back i'm pretty sure Sheridan points to Dura that he wanted it.

Wow what an exciting game. Draw fair result in the end, but ahhhhh Roy. Time to try Sheridan for pens when he is on the field.

Sail huge game. Great to see another young Kiwi shining this season.

Other thoughts why do Nix seldom look like scoring from corners, but Jets were a threat there all night.

Great fearless call by Rudan bringing on Sheridan for Mandi. Basically saying to Jets, we maybe the away team, on a short 4 day turnaround, but we rate ourselves better than you.

Sometimes Singh and Williams seem to get in each other's way, not sure what is happening there. Actually happened in leadup to William's goal.

Slater was hard to listen to sometimes, but other guy was fine.

We didn't seem to get Cacace forward as much as we have been which was a bit disappointing.

I'm not going to get hung up on Roy's missed pen, as gutting as it was. In the end that's an excellent away point.

The defending is concerning for me though. In parts they were breaking us completely open at will, very much like the early part of the season. At times our marking and covering was almost non existent. Great seeing Kurto and Sail have such massive games recently but there is a problem if they are being called into action so much.

Best thing about that game is that it was just brilliant entertainment. Hard to kick a team out of the comp if they are producing such good games week in week out.

On second viewing, Really poor penalty by Roy. Now missed two in a row. Other way of thinking is if they let Sheridan take one then he gets a goal and gets that monkey off his back and moves on with confidence. Need to get Sheridan in the game for more than just 10 min cameos. A draw is ok in the big picture. Awesome game. Could have gone either way with GK's having a big say. Oliver Sail well done tonight.

Why is it hard?

Is he playing for Phoenix or Roy Krishna

He is not a good penalty taker. Get someone better to take them, which at last count would be....just about anybody

If Roy wants to score more goals he should finish the sitters that he missed today.

Roy must be the worst penalty taker in the league. Moss has saved two of his this season already.

A couple of things occurred to me with the 7/14 stat.

1) He's only at about 50% for this season (from memory - 2 saved by Moss, 1 saved v Sydney; 2 scored v CCM with keeper getting hand on both, 1 buried v Victory, and possibly 1 or 2 I've missed) so he's not improving.

2) I reckon he's in his 3rd season (at least) of being #1 penalty taker for us, so given that he's had 6 or 7 of his 14 pens this season alone, we've obviously not had many penalty shouts go our way in previous seasons.

Happy in that it led us to Kurto in that I think he's a fantastic keeper, but jeez it really does show what a horrendous decision that was from Kalezic/the club.

Seems like every time we come up against ex nix players they have a blinder against us. Kosta the other week, Moss this week.

Okay the other guy who's surname ends in er.

Yeah, actually too much imo, let O'Donovan completely free in the first half. Not one of his better games but a damn sight better than the Galloway/Doyle combo

Just over 7000 people attended. Love it how Rudan made a cheeky jibe post match saying he was disappointed there werent more to see a good game of football.

My point is, for the other 80 mins of the game, when Sheridan isn't on the field, who is going to take the pens. Difficult to ask Krishna to, if you are saying he's not good enough. Your leading goal scorer is usually going to take the pens. And he is normally going to demand to take them. Difficult situation I think. Agree he's not been good. Just not sure there is a great answer to this.

Williams was previously a pen taker at Heart. No idea of his record, but it’s time to give him a go.

The team comes first.

Bench Roy? Haven't seen the game, but seems like he missed a couple of chances and Sheridan may be due a run. A shocker of a pen, no elevation or direction. Beat Moss, but didn't lift it. Plus what an impact sub. Or not.

Moss moving on was good for both teams IMO- he'd had it with us. The change improved both his game and ours. He's been in superb form.

Did we miss Doyle in defence?

Is Ernies team waking up?

Also- Kurto plays we win?

Sail now officially our best reserve keeper?

You can't bench Roy, yeah he hasn't been scoring recently but you can't fault the effort he always puts in across the entire park. Lifts the entire team imho.

Agreed re Moss.

Defense is much better at moving the ball when Kopa is there. Yeah the Jets had some good chances but so does every team against the Nix. That's how we know how good Kurto is.

Is Ernies team waking up? Don't think so, play that game again 10 times and the Nix would be up by two at half time in 9 of them.

We absolutely dominate opposing teams when Mandi and Rufer are on song. At one point we had something like 150 passes to 28 for the Jets. However when one of them fades out of the game, they both do and then we look terrible, Rudan needs to be quicker on the subs when this happens.

watching a replay, Andy Harper oh megosh

Georgeski a bit of a muppet too.

Ref fairly decent.

Wish we'd won this.

Vargas made Taylor and Dura look silly.
