So skimming over the posts the conclusion I'm drawing about the crowd is that firstly it was piss poor, and secondly, it consisted of a bunch of drunken assholes who had some weird English Premier League rivalry that they insisted on displaying to demonstrate that they were real football fans. Whuuuuut?

Actually, skimming over the posts, what I've picked up is a bunch of Phoenix fans being (in my opinion) a bit bloody precious.

The Hammers fans I saw were some Yellow Fever zone regulars who had as I understand it, got together with some other (auckland) Hammers fans while they were in town...

...Kinda like Phoenix fans do when they travel to away games in Australia.

Good on them I say.

And they weren't any drunker than anyone else around them. There was a PUB CRAWL going on you know...

There was one tosspot, and when he left he "staunchly" unzipped his top to boisterously reveal his Spurs shirt which he'd kept hidden up until that point, and did it in such a way as to have go/wind up the Hammers guys, who, quite understandably, told him he was a c o c k and to piss off.

And then a whole lot of people get angsty over it? WTF?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Re: the programme thing - apparently the couriers lost/didn't deliver a whole bunch.  I managed to score one by walking round the stadium and happening upon a Nix staff member.

Maybe try contacting the club to see if they got found?

I didn't see/pay attention to the whole 'rivalry' thing but it did frustrate me that the Hammers lads kept chanting Hammers songs.  We all love a bit of Twist and Shout, but imo the rest just made it confusing/awkward for the other chants.

Strangest part is that he seemed disgusted that we were chanting about Liam Reddy and his alcohol, yet he thought it was okay to call the players "fucking queers" when they made mistakes.

Anyone who doesn't like fudging queers shouldn't fudge them.

They also shouldn't be allowed anywhere near football, especially the women's game.

Also - Liam took the chanting in good humour and waved to us at half-time (probably wouldn't have if his side hadn't been 1-0 up).

Except that Le Singe (one of the Hammrs boys) usually leads Twist and Shout...

If our exuberance at the Auckland game has caused some ruffled feathers, then on behalf of my group I offer an apology to the true blue yellow fever fans. Probably wasn't the best idea to join the fever wearing club colours and that seemed to upset a few others so in future we'll sit somewhere else.

And we'll be drinking responsibly.....mostly.

You are fine to be honest. I've seen a lot worse in the Fever Zone before. A group of drunk students in Wellington one game wearing Taranaki rugby tops. To their defence, they are the same colours though...

I don't see a problem with the hammers fans sitting with the fever. These are football people that have come to support the Phoenix and enjoy the game, regardless what they wear.. Surely any noise they make (within reason) will just add to the atmosphere. As long as they don't abuse other members of te zone then anyone wearing whatever should be allowed in the zone

I was two rows above Patrick, it wasn't the Hammers fans that were the annoying issue, it was two Spurs fans, one in front of Doloras wearing a brown jacket. He was the one throwing chips and bottle caps at namely the hammers fans and then the bottle. Then his mate was the one that unzipped his jacket to show he was Spuds.

I know and i did appreciate the link. Overall I had a great time and itwas cool to do the three pubs of Lockhead - well I arrived late and missed the other 9. I am not going to let a few dickheads ruin my day. By the way, anyone know where Smithy was?

The 84th minute equaliser. We should have had it won well before halftime.

Respect to Reddy, it took it all without a negative reaction. We should play nice with him when we see him next.

Reddy you line up the drinks like nobody else

The way you reach for a pint gets me overwhelmed

And when you knock back a shot it ain't hard to tell

We all know, Reddy you're a drunk keeper.

Amongst many other adapted chants during that first half that I now can't remember.

Late to this one, but our attacking play was so, so good.  Just one of those days really.  Best part was we created chances against a very packed defence not on the break.  Krishna is still finding his feet so he'll be a it inconsistent, but that was hugely promising from him.  I really did think that was another step forward, I've been slightly confused about Merrick's methods but it's definitely coming together, definitely.

Still, it was sad to see Brockie subbed so late on, with so little to offer.

To me it may have been a case of a symbolic appearance. He should have come on first instead of Kenny.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Reddy gave the fever zone a small wave as he left the goal at half time. I doubt the ribbing annoyed him. It would give me extra motivation!

Perhaps Liam wouldn't have been so generous if his team hadn't been up at half-time, or if he'd let one through...

Reddy probably knew it was all in good fun.

He was brilliant for us, I'm sure he knows we all love him. He's an alcoholic for god's sake!

I know there's being questions raised over the attendance, 11k, which still may result in the biggest Nix "home" crowd this season.

It seems to me that this was a bad day/time of year to have the game in Auckland with all the Jafas Christmas shopping, going to Christmas in the park etc.  Would other Auckland/Waikato Nix fans agree with this?

(Just guessing at reasons from here in the UK)

Nah still weak turn out. Can't figure it out myself. Weather didn't help. Other than that..who bloody knows? Besides we've been playing some great football.

didn't see the Manny thing?

Wellington would've got 8k or maybe even 9k. The reason our good home performances aren't resulting in increased crowds is because the home games are too far apart, however next 2 home games are only 5 or 6 days apart which is great news
