Steinmann is such a weird player. Will make 2 or 3 great passes then 2 or 3 absolutely terrible ones. Not good enough for me.

The only reason Sotiro was offside was Davila getting dragged back which delayed the pass, so surely there was never any advantage and we should have had the free kick!?

It's Chris Beath. He's been in the league for years.

Sotirio should not be offside there..

Yeah must be going blind as well as stupid. They showed a long close up of a lino and I thought he was the ref.

Woo hoo! Once again the benefit of having an actual top class import.

Nice assist from Rene too.

Great work by Payne in the build up, just quietly

That was a fantastic goal. Piscopo having a storming game so far. Great buildup, great cross and classy finish from Davila!

Sotirio is still killing a lot of attacks eh

Also dumb needless fouls

Scoreline could be anything from here. My traitorous money is on us not being able to keep the lead. Good fun to watch though.

Good half. We've really kept them quiet; that goal we conceded was so unfortunate because apart from that they've had nothing.

Expect a response from Sydney in the 2nd half; we can't sit back and absorb the pressure, especially with Ninkovic likely coming on.

Did anyone else notice that in both goals Sotirio almost fudgeed it up? First goal, if he controlled it properly it wouldn't have been a goal. Second goal, he tried to take the ball off the toe off Davila but luckily missed. He works hard but gee he is a dumb footballer.

Nah he makes 2 or 3 great passes, a couple of timely intercepts, wins all the midfield headers, makes some great tackles and then 1 or 2 stupid mistakes. I personally think he works great with Devlin, and it shows in our midfield dominance, Sydney struggling mightily to break down the press.

Also what happened to Devlin compared to earlier in the season? It's like he's been body swapped with N'Golo Kante.

Agree with you on that on. Piscopo has been great on the right, I don't think Sotirio is the answer on the left, particularly when McCowatt appears to be a natural inside forward with almost as much pace and supposedly an end product.

Devlin is incredible man, just sublime.

Would love to see McCowatt come on sooner than later though

Devlin has been unbelievably good in the last 2 games, to be honest I don't know much about this little guy before the most recent 2 games....but he's good, probably works along Steinmann than Rufer

Just watching the HT highlights: what a superb curling ball down the line by Libby to set Ball through to provide the cross for our first goal.

2 1/2 games*. Agreed. I just think he's found his position. Has done very, very well.

I'd only seen him in a couple of games for Sydney, v Brisbane in the FFA Cup and reports from the WeeNix games; none impressed me. Shows that you can't write off young players too quickly.

2nd half is going to be a nervous watch. Sydney aren't one of those teams that pile on pressure with an avalanche of crosses and shots; they dissect teams brilliantly. Might play into our hands with an ounce of luck.

good run Sotirio..enjoying his pace.  Keeps SFC honest

Davila hands down the best player we've ever had

Permalink Permalink

Beautiful ball

Some really smart pressing by the team; credit to Uffie - we rotate key pressers so no one gets too tired; Ball/Sotirio/Davila

The half time stats are all in our favour.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

To me it means Sydney were overconfident and couldn't be arsed to go a notch up on the gas - they just assumed they can win just by turning up. However, Sydney are a classy side and by 60th minute will get serious.

I fully expect Ninkovic to come on for Kosta who has been asleep all of first half.

Starting to get a bit open, with Ninkovic coming on that's a worry
