I also dont think Doyle was as poor as everyone suggested (from the stands I thought he held his ground well and his distribution was pretty decent)

You can not be good when you do not get the service. No service, no success up front. We finally shut them down up front in the second half and we got the goals.

Spot on... Roly and co were nowhere in the first half and really kicked into gear in the second. They went from getting pushed off the ball and second to it to dominating the midfield. Meant the wing backs could confidently push on without getting caught out of position.

Thought Smeltz was unlucky at the end there... Doesn't do much to stop divers as he would have been better off falling over.

Doyle still miles off the pace. Look at Iwata for AFC. An example being that early cross by Cruz... Iwata was goal side and doing his job perfectly. One of Doyles better games but a long way to go until he is A League quality.

4th place on the ladder, that is pretty awesome, woo! Can't see why this could change, we to get used to being a top team. The Boys getting result after result. Agree, was not the most entertaining game, but after not conceding in the first half, I knew Ernie would adjust them and they would come back. They bossed them for the second half, and WE used our chances. Burns is just on fire, modern football do not need strikers. We deserved to win. I could not expect more for this season, maybe it is for reals our best team ever. I'm happy.

I'm quite an opinionated person and I struggle to keep my mouth shut because when I open it, it usually gets me in trouble but on this topic, I can't resist.

I am quite disappointed that there are a couple of keyboard warriors that are so tough to denegrade the efforts of Allyson Flynn not because of her performance, but because she is a woman. Match officials can deal with stick from the football community. We are not perfect and certainly have howlers that are never allowed to be forgotten. That's part of the game that we buy into when we sign up and PAY to become a match official - you will never please anyone/everyone but everyone is entitled to their opinions on a referee.

To those keyboard warriors, do you guys tell your wives that all their dreams are worthless because they are a woman cause I bet you being an official on the HAL was a dream of Allysons. After all, you have just pretty much said that the efforts that Allyson has to go to to get herself onto the the league, pass the fitness test and be as good as the other officials every week, are worthless because she is a woman. Don't judge her on her performance and what she does every week, judge her on what body parts she has under her uniform. The fact that she is there doing it speaks volumes for the keyboard warriors that wouldn't even own a pair of runninig shoes.

Next time some of you are standing next to Tracey, Liz or Jo in the stands, supporting their team along with you, go tell them that their support does not mean as much because they are a woman. Go on, I encourage you to do so. See how that goes down.

A very low day and I actually feel very dirty wearing a yellow t shirt.

Ernie said in the press conference that the Krishna and Burns switch was decided by the players themselves and that he had nothing to do with it. Quite and interesting press conference:

I think Iwata and Doyle are different kinds of players. Iwata is a lot faster and more attack minded than Doyle. Iwata also lives on the touchline. I thinks that last point is the benefit of experience he will have. I thought the Phoenix in general lacked a lot of width to their game and because of not having an option wider to stretch the defence, they turned and played back a lot. Its hard to compare but the Man U Aston Villa game on after illustrated what a difference it makes with width to the game cause then the defence are stretched a lot more. I think this is something that Doyle could change (assuming he is not under instructions) that would help him and the team in general immediately.

I got the impression this was a deliberate tactic - Burns or Krishna would drift wide and then Doyle or Fenton would make an inside run. It didn't really work but I think the idea was to get our fullbacks into the space between their fullbacks and centrebacks

At the start of the season I remember watching a couple of player interviews where both Burns and Krishna said they wanted to score 10 goals. For Burns, I thought, I'm glad that he's setting that as his target, and if he gets them by the end of the season I'll be very happy. For Krishna, I thought he was dreaming. Shows how much I know. Krishna is well on track, and Burns could get 20.

Hmm how to reply to the guy with his knickers in a twist over this whole thing....

(edit: and i said knickers as opposed to undies, as i guess it would be sexist and ignorant to assume that only women can wear knickers)

(edit2: ive also just assumed you are a man, when you could very well be a woman - which would make sense as to the level of offence you have taken to what people have posted in regards to this AR. I apologise for this assumption)

(edit3: ive just put my foot in it again, by assuming that only women could be offended by sexism. Sorry again. I'll let myself out..)

Blaming people who get offended for being too easily offended misses the point. The gender of the AR is irrelevant and the fact that it was brought up as part of the rage at her is crossing a line. I can recall an absolute shark-ton of poor calls from male officials in the A League before and never has anyone indicated that those are in some way related to their gender.

What about our racist chants about aussies always cheating? Or is that not really racist because theyre white or something? Or because being aussie is belonging to a culture and not a race, therefore we can make generalisations on cultures?

Lets just get over it shall we?. I doubt whoever made the comment in the first place is an actual sexist. He probably even has a mate whos a female

Sarah (Is that her first name?) Ho does a fairly good job on the sidelines, perhaps with experience, this one will develop into a good official too. I am sure when she saw the replay, she might have thought "ooooops".

But it is a learning experience. Who really cares male or female? Competence is more important and there is certainly worse match officials than her running the sidelines and in the middle of the park too.
