Shark, after going 7 in a run undefeated, I am terrified that now have to play the last placed team at home.

... I hope we win.

Jesus we're a depressing bunch lol

3-1 to us I reckon. It's like we don't know how to be confident, we've never been this far

How about we stop doing the usual mopey NZ sports supporter thing of being surprised everytime we play well, and feeling justified/smug everytime we play badly? Would be nice for both the team and supporters to have a bit of confidence. We should expect to beat CCM - if we don't, what are we doing? Do we want to win the league one day, or not? If so, we need to develop a club culture where it is expected that we perform, especially at home, and especially against teams below us.

Is it still possible we will lose? Yes, it's possible that we'll lose any game, it's the bloody A-League. Even if we did, I won't care as much as I would've earlier in the season when we weren't displaying the same qualities as we are displaying now. We're still building, and I have confidence that Rudan now knows what he is doing (I didn't earlier in the season, I must admit, as some decisions seemed baffling from the outside). He has been justified in his actions by our recent performances and everyone should be behind him now.

Ahhh did they??

Look what happened? Um we got a red card to a key player with 25 minutes remaining and held on for a fantastic point away in the South Australian heat.

Nah we were absolute pants for most of that game, especially before the red card.

Harsh on Williams, and I'm a big fan of his; but I just think he's a bit too similar to Krishna. Sheridan offers something different, and since we are going long quite often (basically every goal kick goes long), it makes sense to have Sheridan challenging for balls rather than Krishna.

I think Williams gets one more week as the starter, with Sheridan to come on after 60 minutes. I feel like Williams pressed the ball better than Sheridan against WSW - due to lack of match fitness and/or tactical familiarity - and this has been crucial to our success this season. Could be wrong, but that was my impression.

Think it would also be beneficial to keep the starting XI as consistent as possible given that it will be an untested pair in defensive midfield.

Great time to be a Phoenix supporter and get those crowds in again.

CCM will come out firing for sure, but Rudan has this side really believing in themselves, and handling adversity during a game at a level not seen for years.

The latter is what I’m loving.

Exactly - to get a point away from home, with 10 men, after playing awful is a fantastic point.

Just managed to drag along 4 more casuals which also made me realise we'll probably come close to losing it or play sharke this game but then I figured out how I don't care and that its all part of supporting the team.

I know history doesn't count for much but I thought this was interesting; when you look at Wellington's results in round 13 in the 11 seasons they've been in the A-League, they've won 7, drawn 3, and lost only 1. This is comfortably their best round for results. The next best is round 11 with 6 wins, 3 draws, and 3 losses.

Unfortunately, that one round 13 loss was against Central Coast (3-1 on new year's eve, 2015/16) and the Phoenix also drew against them in round 13 last season.

The other two draws were against Sydney FC (in season 1), and Adelaide in 16/17.

The wins (in order) were against Victory, Newcastle, Perth, Newcastle, Heart, Wanderers, and Adelaide.

(Their worst round for results is round 4; they won the round 4 match  in season 1 (first Phoenix win ever), but since then, there's only been two draws and 8 losses (several of these are the Melbourne Cup Monday games against the Victory))

Yes but what you have for Round 13 for last three seasons is Draw, Draw, Lost. Was only our lucky round 2008/09 season to 2014/15 season. Otherwise our best round last few seasons has been Round 6 with draw, win, win, win before we get to a lost back in 2014/15

I wonder what Mariners fans would think about us angsting about possible failure against them. Their team hasn't won a game since Adam was a boy, their striker has run away from home, their star defender has gone loco, the players are dissing the coach, the club is in general turmoil and they are off to play away against a team that's on a 7 game unbeaten streak which beat them convincingly less than a month ago. Don't think they will be expecting much.

I'm interested in seeing how that compares with "milestone" games... If you're taking requests. I feel like we're traditionally jinxed on 100, 250 etc games, but happy to have the numbers prove otherwise

I don't know anywhere that lists different milestone games, but from games I found

Andrew Durante and Vince Lia 250th (total A-League) and 200th game - Played Newcastle Jets and won 2-0

Andrew Durante 250th game for club - Played Western Sydney Wanderers and lost 0-3

Jon McKain 200th National League level appearance - Played Perth Glory and won 2-1

Paul Ifill 400th senior match - Played Central Coast Mariners and won 2-0

1st game - Played Melbourne Victory and drew 2-2

50th game - Played Central Coast Mariners and drew 0-0

100th game - Played Adelaide and won 1-0

150th game - Played Newcastle Jets and drew 1-1

200th game - Played Brisbane Roar and won 3-0

250th game - Played Central Coast Mariners and won 3-0

300th game - Played Adelaide United and lost 1-3 (Note that was the game on 24-Nov-18)

This will not be the walk in the park game you think it is, CCM dominated SFC before the red card and still managed to score again being down to 10 men. I think we might win but there wont be much in it.

If I was a Mariners fan going into the match I'd be thinking:

'if we play to the best of our abilities we can get a result. Phoenix have both their defensive midfielders out, so the engine of their team is significantly weakened. Phoenix are on a good run, but they aren't a team I'm scared of. We've been close to getting results recently, many times justifiably going ahead, if we keep it together for a full 90 we can get a result. We're definitely due!!'

I've predicted Phoenix by 2 or more though!

Yes, we are strong favourites, and we should win. Also, anyone can beat anyone in this league, and I don't think CCM are quite as hopeless as they seem on the surface, even though they are sucking.

If our replacements for Mandi & Rufer aren't going well, it does get dicey.
