I wonder what Mariners fans would think about us angsting about possible failure against them. Their team hasn't won a game since Adam was a boy, their striker has run away from home, their star defender has gone loco, the players are dissing the coach, the club is in general turmoil and they are off to play away against a team that's on a 7 game unbeaten streak which beat them convincingly less than a month ago. Don't think they will be expecting much.

This will not be the walk in the park game you think it is, CCM dominated SFC before the red card and still managed to score again being down to 10 men. I think we might win but there wont be much in it.

I don't think it will be a walk in the park either, just putting some context into things, ie, it's much nicer being a slightly angsty Nix fan than a desolate CCM fan. Mariners have big, big problems and will be struggling mentally to lift for this one.

I mean, I believe we'll smash them. Confident in the team. Can't be alone in this?

Weird feeling, expecting to drub a team 3-0. I could get quite happily used to this.

Obviously midfield is the key.       Will it be Burgess and Nichols?      If so, are they good enough?       Guess I will find out tomorrow night.   Hoping for a good win......could do with some cheering up as the team I've supported for over 60 years is currently in 92nd place in the Football League.

Looking for a good all round performance. Will be a very good test for us in midfield with a few suspensions. Got to be a good thing that we can test our depth around the park, with a few new (enforced) changes? Especially so if we're serious about making a run at the finals come May. Would be good if we can further that gap between the top 6 and the also-rans too. ;)

Gotta go 3-0 to the Nix though - a cagey opening 45 minutes, followed by the Sheriff bagging his first goal for the Nix and, and Krishna nicking (nixing?) in with a double.

Me too, or at least that Nichols won't be starting as he's been left out of late.
On another note, there's been mention made of discount codes.... But a few have been mentioned. Anyone in the know want to clarify which one should be used please?

I don't wish CCM any ill feeling but as a Nix fan, I can appreciate how they are feeling. Some of their fans couldn't contain themselves when we were in the shark. But you get that everywhere. One day they will come right. Just as one day, the Victory will go through the same situation too. Swings and round-abouts. Any CCM fans there today, deserve a special warm welcome for to travel when you team is losing, deserves respect.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Game day. Cant wait. It feels so long since the last home game, compunded by a very busy stretch at work over Christmas but here we are.

I just wanna say, lets stay grounded and not lose our heads, while its nice to fantasize winning 5-0 and start EXPECTING goals and wins just remember that we're still developing and still improving. We can banish the anxiety of watching the Nix play but dont replace it with unrealistic expectations. (Tell a tale from my European club every season I expected us to win the league every year, but one season we had a terrible finish, so the following season for me there was no expectation to win the league, just win the next game, win the next game. We ended up winning the league but Id lowered my expectations massively)

We're missing two key cogs in the machine today so im glad to see how the rest of the squad is gonna step up. I dont think we're gonna see signs of fatigue just yet (the fact we're having midweek games is irritating as feck). The players are surely gonna get a boost today and Im hoping for a noisy crowd.

I want a clean sheet today that's it. Kurto was unfortunate to concede against WSW. Half the work is done when you keep a clean sheet so thats what im personally hoping for.

Cant wait for this game though. Its gonna be electric, its gonna be fire.

We'll see you there !!

On the other hand if the Mariners sneak an early goal this will, hopefully,  fire up the Nix and we may well see a feast of goals.      Might bring the crowds back anyway.

Surely it goes:

                Kurto

      Taylor  Durante Doyle
Fenton                     Cacace
        Nichols  Kopa
                Singh
     Krishna      Williams

Subs: Sail, Burgess, Sheridan, Lowry, Burns

Sheridan still new, so reckon he'll come in to play 30 mins in the second half. Depending how Nichols goes, Burgess could see a bit more game time than usual. Burns as a back up option for injury, otherwise Lowry to come on in 89th to give Durante a standing ovation for his 300th.

I hope Rudan's instructions will be to unleash hell from the opening kickoff, and score early in the first half to put the opposition on the back foot mentally. We have the physical stamina to do that as well as the skilled players available for this game.

There will be some tired legs after our two tough games on the road over the past 7 days, so best not to leave it till late in the second half again to bag that winner :-)

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

we let in two goals off corners last game, Sherman offers another good presence defensively. Play him the 60 and Williams off the bench.

Thr last time we had this much hype around a game was during the #savethenix campaign. Even though we beat Mariners 2+0 last time they came around, I can't help but feel nervous they might pull out their first win against us, ruining everything we did to get people to the game. But I have faith the Nix can close this out 3-1

Hope so too, but weighing up the travel and a busy festive season spent in Aussie as well as a couple of missing regular starters, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes us a while to get going. Still reckon we've got more than enough in the tank to overcome CCM, but they'll still be dangerous - they've effectively got nothing to lose, even at this stage in the season so will be intriguing to see what happens come K/O.

okay so it’s the A League banana skin round and there’s a lot of people on here rattling their worry beads and turning all chicken licken with their comments!

We are playing the worst team in the league ,a team who spent the whole pre season trying to sign a has been sprinter who couldn’t kick a football to save himself, they are truly awful so all the panic merchants should get a grip of themselves, pour a stiff one and get ready to enjoy what I believe will be a demolition!

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Sherry the Sheridan packed his trunk, and said goodbye to the Polish.

Off he went to the nickety-Nix, Nix, Nix, Nix!

There is a tall striker called Sheridan
He came from Bailieborough in Ireland
He has been a-roaming
From Glasgow to Poland
Now he's come to score goals here in Wellington

Gonna have to roll out the hymn sheet for that one. At least until we get used to it ;)
