did anyone see my chequed yellow and black flag way down in isle 29 ? my son and I were bring the fever down opposite sides of the stadium
I LOVE LAMP
LOL, now having seen the second half, the Roar keeper was definitely suffering from 'roid rage. If I screamed like that at my defence I'd be kicked out of the club, no matter if they deserved it.

Yeah, even from the stands you could literally - as in actually - see the spray from his mouth as he went nuts. Way over the top.
Hey you bastards I'm still here.
They were all (at Roar) having a hissy fit about the penalty.
Yet it was pretty hard to argue that Young missed the ball and upended Brockie.
Young, I can understand. But North was livid at the ref, and he wasn't even near the action.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
considering it was a shot from distance too! Worst keeper in the league

Gerwin had probably his best game today

Also he and Brattan had a full on screaming match after Brockie's goal. Another batch of Get Well Soon cards on their way to Michael Theo tonight.
awesome night to be at the stadium.
Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
They were all (at Roar) having a hissy fit about the penalty.
Yeah, but Young really went nuts after his defence let Roly through for a free shot later in the half.
Manny scoring so early was a buzz - I can't recall him ever having that many shots or touches in the opposition box
We looked pretty comfortable for most of the match but nice to get the 2nd to ease the nerves
if Roly had scored from the Gorrin flick it would have been a stunner.
Loved the retro chants
Those retro chant were funny as and fun to chant again. Their Keeper, got told to Shut the F Up if I read North's lips properly with his reaction to one of the keepers rants.
I wonder if our chants helped wind their keeper up even tighter?
2nd place! Fark! Not used to be this high , so highmy nose is bleeding ;-)
Great result , when we're good man are we good. Nice to see a big crowd in and the team putting an awesome shift in should hook in some more people. Thought the fever zone was pumping again ,yelled so much my throat hurts!Stoked Brockie gets to leave on a high note and was far king cool to give him a massive fever send off. Roly is my new favourite player he is total class! Can't really name a bad player. Thought even Vinnie was good , especially when he banged the ball right into the ref.
Interesting to see how league position , media coverage etc has contributed to a real buzz about the nix. Heading home tonight in my nix gear the train crew , bus driver , dude at the curry place and the girl that served me at the supermarket all asked me the score and when the next game was. Awesome to see people really start to embrace the Nix and get exited about what Ernie and the team are doing.
Did anyone notice any tourists off of the cruise ship at the game ? I had a family of foreigners (possibly French ) stop me walking down Lambton Quay to ask what was with my shirt so I filled them in said how well we are doing , told them it was kids go free , I walked off and had the guy chase me to find out where to get tickets so I sent them towards the ticket booth.
Really enjoyed the trip down! Even enjoyed the Basin immensely, just the pitch was flat and Rosco and Williamson were supposed to have batted all day yesterday so McCullum could do the damage today...
Manny Muscat Baby!
Manny Muscat Oooooh

Works for me, just. So annoyed that the official one is so crap but suppose I shouldn't expect decent from the FFA.
What's an official stream?
I don't think that's an 'official' stream that is run by the FFA, it's an overseas website that only has rights for certain regions (excluding nz since Sky has rights here) to show games isn't it?
Not run by the FFA, but as you say sanctioned by them: http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/news-display/ffa-extends-hyundai-a-league-global-broadcast-rights-deal/72159 (via Paddy)
Good time for WelNix to be negotiating that license extension

Streaming media from outside NZ is unethical but not illegal.
We consulted with a number of copyright law experts and all of them agreed that accessing Netflix from New Zealand is in no way illegal. For this section I'm going to use "Netflix" to represent all online streaming services not based in New Zealand such as Hulu and Amazon Prime, but also services from Australia and the UK.
First, as we have mentioned many times in the past, in New Zealand you are allowed to legally circumvent geoblocks. For example, you are allowed to buy a multizone DVD player in order to watch Zone 1 DVDs that are meant only for the US. Similarly if you find content online that says "this is not available in your country", you are legally allowed to get around that block.
The broadcast rights for a lot of the content on Netflix is owned by local providers such as Sky or TVNZ. New Zealand has parallel importing laws which allow you to bypass the local distributor. This is true for the physical goods that you might buy from The Warehouse and it's also true for digital products such as movies and TV shows online.
There is no differentiation in the law between physical and digital objects. So in essence watching Netflix is simply a new form of parallel importing.
The main reason accessing Netflix isn't illegal though is that you are paying for it. The content you are accessing is being sold to you legitimately. It is in no way piracy.

Yeah but Chopah works for Sky so is naturally going to defend Skys position that it is illegal.

I don't know that much about it so was very interested in what you posted. Thanks for that.
Your right though illegal seems a bit strong of a word.
But taking what you posted, that last paragraph seems to indicate that the main reason it's not illegal is that it's a paid site, but isn't this stream free?
I only questioned the official stream because that seemed odd for the a league to stream into NZ when there was already coverage. And you have confirmed that's not the case
That was awesome last night. Great start with Muscat's goal then unbelievably he almost scored again. Someone behind me said he must need some oxygen after being so high up the pitch. Absolutely bossed them all night and what a great way for Brockie to sign off. There was no way he wasn't taking the penalty, and great finish for the second goal. He was nowhere near the best player on the pitch but there really was no other option for MOM. Couldn't have asked for much more from his final game. After the penalty the guy behind me said "if Merrick has any sense he'll take him off now." Lucky he didn't!
Great to get to 10K and brilliant atmosphere too. Chants sounded good in aisle 24 as always and there was plenty of participation around us too. Was fun to hear "we're gonna win the league" being sung by Phoenix fans! Bit early for that maybe but why not? Looking good for at least a home playoff at this stage. Guess I've picked a good year to get my first season ticket!
Bit a shame about the break really. Would have been good to keep this momentum going. Have to miss the next home game too as I'm going to be out of town.

Livesport is not free, you pay around $10 per month. If you stop to pay, you don't have access. It's exactly how SKY should work, you pay a fee and watch what you pay. Quality is pretty good and you got even interviews after the game! They block the stream to NZ, but in livesport's case it easy to go around, just a browser plug-in.
I drop Sky after this season and go back to that the streaming system. I'm glad it is not illegal. They are other streaming sites with bad quality most of them look like illegal sites, but I'm not sure if streaming content from an illegal site is actual a crime. In some country it is not, not sure about NZ.

Ok, didn't know it cost. Makes sense.
EDIT: anyway off topic - sorry about that - shouldn't be taking the gloss off another great result!
I'm really enjoying watching the Nix this season, starting to get non football people in the office interested as well - hopefully after the break the crowds and the viewer numbers stay high.
Streaming media from outside NZ is unethical but not illegal.
If it's legal why is unethical?
SKY NZ does a pretty bad job, minimal amount of cameras on the pitch, no interviews before after the game.
I noticed that they cut down the cameras in australia based games, too. They have one hand held guy close to the pitch instead of two steady cams on each end. I also can't see a big camera, with a guy sitting behind, at the half way line. Can't remember any camera inside the goals, it is all very minimalistic, cheap and not helping to make the game look beautiful.
Oh yes, I forgot, the game, crowed and everything else was awesome!
The issue with parallel importing is that you undermine local businesses and also violate the Terms of Services of the resellers and source.
So while its legal to the letter of the law it goes against the wishes of the A-League, SkyTV, and Live Sport.

Only we could turn a great result into a discussion about the ethics of streaming.

Look, give me legal, quality pay-per-view online access to A-League games and I'll never free-stream again. (Hell, why not do a deal with FFA/WPFC to allow streaming for club members and season ticket holders?)
No-one can enforce a digital monopoly in the broadband era, and to attempt to do so through shaming and social pressure is as risible as 80s anti-drugs campaigning.

We get a very bad deal in comparison to say the UK. Lots of legal ways of watching free sport with your broadband package etc. (and broadband is cheaper too).
In Britain A-League games are on BT Sport which comes free with British Telecom broadband packages.
BT Sport streams free for customers online (comprises two channels plus ESPN)
Has live Premier League games, A-League, live FA Cup, live Scottish Premier, live Serie A, live Bundesliga, live Portugal Primera, live UEFA League etc. plus many other sports.
It costs 5 pounds a month for "BT TV" which has 70 channels of Freeview - you just add BT Sport for free. You can watch via a TV decoder or online.
For those who subscribe to Sky TV in the UK, BT Sport can be added for free if you're a BT broadband subscriber.
In Britain you can watch live A-League for free, here you have to pay $76/ month for Sky Basic + Sport plus you'll already be paying a minimum of $70 / month for phone and broadband with no added bonuses like free sport.
Actually, this tempts me to move to the UK....

If WPFC offered free streaming to season members, it would then be worth me getting a season membership. Bit hard to justify the cost when i'm not able to make it to as many games as i'd like.
Yellow Whever Whanganui
Thanks for that, goldie: and as Big Pete says, with Sommet having fallen over, if the folks in power really believe in the virtues of "free market competition", rather than just their cronies getting rich off monopolies, they would make provision of live sport more of a level playing field in NZ.

I tried to buy the Nix - West Ham game from SKY. Incredible hard because I have my box with Vodafone, in the end I failed and found a stream in 30 seconds.
Not wanting to focus too much on this, but thought it was rather ironic I got an email from Twitter today with this article linked

Thought it was interesting based on recent conversations.
