I was concerned when I read Phoenix only flew out last night for a 10pm NZ time KO tonight to be honest. Should've had another 2-3 days to acclimatise IMO.

Really got to win next week if we want to stay in the title hunt.

It is not altitude we were playing at just a bit warmer.

You have to be kidding? Fenton was outstanding tonight and Polenz was a bunch of laughs mostly

Nope. Polenz got into a ton of space and crossed a lot, some of them admittedly off, but provided the perfect winning cross on his left foot. Louis didnt get up enough, heard Ernie shouting at him one time, cut back too often, doesnt have a left foot

Defence were reasonably solid for the most part, bar those balls in behind Muscat, but that was poor at the end. Defence not helped by midfield or forwards who surrendered possession constantly - Lia and Burns probably the worst offenders

Can't complain about that loss. If you give the ball away that many times you're really just handing it to them on a plate...

To be fair both teams looked rusty after the break, a draw would've been good but wasn't to be. I think Brisbane deserved the win, they fought harder and created more chances. To be honest we never really looked like scoring. Krishna's goal took a lucky deflection and Cunningham's goal was handed to him by Theo. Can't say any of our players did well. Burns tried but a bit to selfish at times I thought?

And yes, Lia couldn't get a shot on target if Ronaldo showed him how to...

Hope it was just a rare slip up although I must say I'm concerned for the second half of the season. Nearly all teams have strengthened their squads, we've done nothing and if we lose Burns it's gonna be game over. The leagues gotten tougher, tonight we've seen that.

Anyway don't wana get ahead of myself, better luck against the Wanderers.

We were OK until they equalised out of nothing. Then we went all to buggery, including the traditional last minute gift goal we have been dishing up regularly sent season 1.

Yeah the first half was okay if not a bit rusty but we looked knackered in the second half and we got a very fortunate second when we never looked like going close

Okay Polenz has pace but he kicked it away or out more often than not and was out of position a lot but never punished for it.

I know, but it is only 3 hours not like Perth at 7 hours.

TBF we did not play that well and against Brisbane if you keep giving the ball away you will be punished.

The worry is we have to play them in Qld again.

It seems more than that someones account has been hacked. Any mods at home can look at it?

Sorry, this is me posting. These late kick offs always seem to do us though - if we kick off any later than 7pm NZT, we seem to struggle. Adelaide recently an exception I guess. They were off the pace, and time may be part of the reason.

I left the forum when Roar went 2-1 ahead as I didn't want to waste my time reading angst.  Seems like a good move.

Can't say that the result wasn't unexpected with the amount of possession and chances Roar had.

Never mind, a hard game to blow out the cobwebs.  Next up the RBB.  C'mon Nix - fight like your fans!  (no, not really, don't)

Passing accuracy of the 10 starting outfielders shows where it went wrong.

 84.1%  67.6% 92.9% 61.1%

Hi

I'd just like to say that some sad fudge troll has hacked into my account and posted lots of serious, non-bollocks posts over the past month.

I'm really sorry that this has happened and I've changed my password from sharkcodTwit to something a bit more cryptic.

I agree - our chaps are simply not used to being up late at night and performing strenuous physical activities.

Ernie should have them for a full week prior at the Electric Avenue, with funky disco music, wearing heavy weather tracksuits.

Preferably with fur-lined bandanas to maximise the effect, and heavy bling around their necks for core strength conditioning.

I think that game shows what happens to our team if Roly has an off day. Without him creating space in the middle of the park it was hard for us to get the ball into good areas. In hindsight maybe A-Rod should have started and we could have had an extra midfielder to combat Brisbane's passing/pressing game, but that would have meant dropping one of WeeMac, Burns, or Krishna to the bench and that would have been a huge call.

Where I come from, if you don't hit the ball goalward, or at least hit the ball in a manner that would create a goal then you can't be credited with the goal, therefore the Krishna goal is an Oggie.

When he touched it, it was heading well wide and I would say it wouldn't even have made the line. Any player could have crawled there to stop it. Therefore the defenders touch was critical and was the factor in the outcome.
