Interestingly Ernie also said...

Coach Ernie Merrick says he will replace Hernandez with either Stein Huysegems or Jason Hicks.

"That decision I'll be making overnight. It's good that we have two players to choose from, so Jason Hicks and Stein. We won't reveal it so we don't help the opposition too much, but both have shown they can play the role very well."

which is a little different to what he said last time.

Stein will be there. He's said previously Hicks can't play that role.

Little bit baffled as to why a lot of people don't think we can win this one. Theoretically much easier than our away fixture at WSW, given the roar's last 3 results and their players missing.

I've also felt we could easily have beaten the roar in our two matches so far this season, and we're much higher on confidence since then.

Franjic got the winner last time down our left side, everyone held off and he curled one. That won't happen again, our backline is much more solid with manny at LB and riera/lia screening so well.

obviously putting myself out on a limb with this, if we get beat I'll take it on the chin ;)

Yep people are forgetting how good our defence has been for the last few games, Stein has quite rightly been getting lots of props but we are not only the form team at the front but also the form team at the back right now. Missing Carlos and Kenny isn't going to change our backline very much. It might be close but we have a good chance.

I did it... and I feel very dirty...

$40 on us at $6

This is win win for me - win and obviously I'll be happy, lose and I get to be our official jinxy mcjinx for the rest of the season!

4-0 win to Brisbane, just remember you heard it here first!

I bet 20 on us at $6.50. Those odds are way too generous imo

Manny was playing left back last game v roar , so what is your point , round 9 . Caira  was LB round 1.

Agree. We won against WSW, draw CCM and trashed Victory. We always played good football (minus the Perth game) and there is no reason that could stop. But as always: there is no guarantee.
My tip is still 3:1 and my crystal ball showed me: Brockie, Stein, Riera.

Temperature in Brisbane is dropping, some showers, only likely to be a bit over 20 by the time they start playing.

You guys obviously made the odds get shortened. Got a cheeky tenner on @ $6. COYN

Yeah I dropped $10 on it. For $60, that's exceptional value. They may not have gotten the memo that they are missing everyone except Broich.

Hope the pitch holds up as there is a W- League game Brisbane v WSW as a curtain raiser today.

This is the squad they named last night. We're probably missing more.
Brisbane Roar squad: 1.Michael THEO, 2.Matthew SMITH (c), 3.Shane STEFANUTTO, 10.HENRIQUE, 11.Liam MILLER, 13.Jade NORTH, 14.Diogo FERREIRA, 15.James DONACHIE, 17.Matt McKAY, 18.Luke BRATTAN, 19.Jack HINGERT, 20.Matthew ACTON (gk), 22.Thomas BROICH, 23.Dimitri PETRATOS, 26.Corey BROWN, 28.Brandon BORRELLO, 34.Patrick THEODORE, 35.Jai INGHAM
**Two to be omitted**

I am not a betting man but I opened an account last night just because the paying odds for us not losing are ridiculously high.
"We not gonna lose this one" says my ever-optimistic heart.  "Worth a punt", says my wallet.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Every week people post the worst betting advice on here. $6 is not good value at all, let alone exceptional value.

Betfair currently has Phoenix win at $7.80. And most other bookmakers I looked at have them around $7.

Looks a bit too one-sided. If we were to lose it would be maybe 2:0 at the very most, but 2:1 more likely and 1:0 even more so.
But it ain't gonna happen. It will be a close contest and Roar plays very differently from the CCM that strangled us at home (1:1).

Conditions heavily in favour of a Wellington side... did you guys see the Victory players last week all playing with long-sleeve undergarments?

Whenever we play Brisbane I just expect some no name youth product to come off the bench and put in a starring performance against us then disappear for the rest of his career.

Temp will be at least 24 and there it looks like the showers have gone. Humidity in the high 60's

Its good value when you consider that
a: We have a decent show of winning this
b: when you have a decent chance of winning, the TAB are normally paying closer to $3

Hence, its good value.

i love it when people mock other people's betting 'advice'

newsflash: no one wins with betting in the long run, everyone gets it wrong most of the time

B means it is better value, not good value, there is a big difference. But anyway good luck if you have money on it, I hope you collect!

I wasn't mocking it, just offering my opinion and pointing out the odds with the NZ tab are terrible compared to other legal options in NZ.

And your 'newsflash' is misinformed, I personally know several people who make a very good living from sports betting, over many years and a huge sample size. If you are betting purely with the NZ tab sure it's going to be a long term losing thing, but with a market such as betfair it's extremely beatable over the long run if you know what you are doing.

Clut! Superb.

Reminds me (off topic warning) of NZ cricketer in past Bob Cunis who was described by an English commentator "his bowling is a bit like his name, neither one thing nor the other". A classic moment.

Meanwhile, COYN.

I know, I know, its serious!
