Has there been news on Stein and his niggle?

Permalink Permalink
about 12 years ago · edited about 12 years ago · History

Haven't heard about Stein. Hopefully the Aucks get out to Eden Park today - some good Kiwi talent coming thru here - but we're historically flat as a pancake in most of these home away games -  don't let it happen !!

Someone made a claim on Twitter about 40 mins ago that he will be in the lineup. But starting or from bench or even if true who knows.

Beautiful, brilliant sunshine. 23 degrees. Happy that the game gets going near sun-down because I'd rather not fry.

Brisbane in the winter.

I've heard of this mythical place called "Brisbane".  Many NZers say they head off to that place, never to be seen of again.  I think it's a lie and they drop off the edge of the world just past the Taranaki Bight.

WELLINGTON Phoenix.

The more the nix move away from that (by taking games away) toward becoming nz Phoenix, the less connected I feel to the team.

We are a Wellington team. I love the team because its awesome having a professional football team in my city.

What about fans from all over nz you ask? I liken it to people supporting say a club in England. You choose a team in another city that you feel some connection to. For example (pre-Phoenix) I chose to support Leeds united because they had a few Australians and a kiwi at the time. Its a very loose connection. People outside of Wellington, but in nz presumably support wellington as they feel a connection of it being the only nz professional side (and thus also obviously has a lot of nz players). These are completely legitimate fans, there is no snobbery from me. This connection is also obviously a hell of a lot stronger than my loose connection to Leeds united in England.

In summary: Wellington team, with a lot of fans from elsewhere in nz.

Oh yes you are so right.

Looks like they sold the seats which are usually there for the rugby, but the haven't put them back in after the cricket (presumably because the test starts thursday, and they didn't want to take them back out). what a balls up.
