Two days now and despite the result and I think about an earlier comment I made, if we have to have the teavelling circus, can we have 1 game in New Plymouth and 1 game in Napier.

Easy to travel to, within the Wellington region and fans from both areas regularly travel down to Wellies for games.

I quite like this idea. Game in Napier could be during U19s weekend, and New Plymouth on a long weekend. the problem with this is itd take time to build as a tradition which relies on the FFA to give us the fixture every season - which they do for some teams in australia, but doubt they would for us. Plus a late season game in Auckland to hopefully cash in with a big crowd if we are having a good season.

Building on tradition could be a great area to focus on. If only there was a traditional fixture that was always on that could be exploited to garner more support.

I wish there was a game in Melbourne on the day before the first Tuesday in November every year that could be promoted, that could work, if only the FFA would schedule this fixture each year!

I agree, it's something a lot of other sports do very well, but the FFA don't tend to cater for (it's all about what Fox says).

That needs to change.

Victory v Phoenix, the day before the Melbourne Cup! This would seem like a candidate for a traditional fixture that the FFA have thrown our way for the past few years (probably something that Mr Herbert pushed for!)

I have not seen any promo from the Nix pushing this event!

That's a victory game though. Not much point the Phoenix promoting it?

It'd be a great trip for the Fever to do one year though.

We need our own traditional fixture, as mentioned above. Think the U19 tournament is a good candidate for it. And/Or pick a long weekend to go to New Plymouth again, Yarrow stadium is awesome, and I was quite surprised how many the nix got on their bus up to the game (plus the Fever bus selling out) - so think that's a great starting point to get a tradition going if we can consistently be given that fixture on a long weekend.

It's also a game that the Phoenix are playing in, it seems to be played every year, so why wouldn't they promote it?

Most people in Melbourne have that day off & it is a fantastic trip, I have done that trip & I can highly recommend it.

Love the idea of building a traditional fixture. However the big but in all this is the FFA you are asking them to come to the party and lets face it they havnt been to receptive of any of our requests in the past.

Have never really understood the scheduling of our home /away fixtures i just dont get why we havnt pushed them to be held on holiday weekends. t

Think the buy in from home fans would have been greater over the years if home fans new that every Labour/ Anniversary/Waitangi weekend there would a fixture away.

I am wondering though if we have done our dash with the novelty games in Auckland. The attendances have been dropping each time we go up there. The uniqueness has worn off. Some Auckland fans wont agree with this but when you go by numbers through the gate it is hard to argue the point.

Even the scheduling of the Wellington games is all over the place. I've had feedback from people who didn't go to games because they didn't know there was a game on!

I do think that a traditional game could garner a bit of support, even if it's a game in Auckland on a holiday weekend, that would make it more attractive for more people, but as has been previously mentioned, the FFA aren't going to do us any favours!

Might of been one of mine. If he was wearing a #17 it almost certainly was.
