Speaking of which, head on over to http://shop.yellowfever.co.nz/collections/frontpa... and order yours today!

What I want to know is how did you get Vinnie to play so averagely for so long, and then just before what may possibly be his best game for the 'Nix you put him on a T-shirt?

Also did you ever eat any of that Cairns fudge? Once get Chris Cairns autograph that kind of thing?

Yes I am a bozo, but you've been frankly strange and I didn't think we were playing badly throughout the match and I was proved right. Don't go on about being a women or a goalie or some other sh**te.

give over.

if you think it's strange ignore it, don't get in on abuse IMO.

Anyone see that Vinnie guy play football tonight? I reckon he's got a future.

Didn't see the game. Rains of fish and frogs in Wellington. What else has been happening?

well funny you mention that.

There is a distant star that was picked up by the Keplar telescope that has a strange anomaly. Some people think it's an alien civilization and it's a Dyson Sphere that we are seeing. I reckon it was just Vinnie Lia's goal.

Heard reports Lia had scored, but discounted them as frauds as I've seen most of his games.

Doyle seems happier putting in crosses a bit higher up the park, and we seemed to let him do that a bit in the second half.

Fenton hasn't seemed to have licence to really drive to the by-line the way he has done several times before. Not really got the ball at pace. Always turning back. Also a bit crocked with his throw ins?

Agree except the jury is still out on Sarpong. Usually when a really good player comes in, other players buzz about them in interviews etc. too. Didn't see much of that from Lia's interview.

Thought Louis had his worst game going forward for a while. Don't think Doyle is really there to do that.

It's funny how everyone ragged on Lochhead when he was here but how many would have him today?

2 games in and I still think defence is our biggest concern. Sigmund put in the performance of a captain that lead from the front and covered everywhere at the back and considering who was along side him in the back 4, I can see why. A win, which was deserved (as was last weeks but no dice) does not hide the fact that we are frail at the back.

I still believe that Doyle and Manny are the wrong way round and it was a moment of "why are you out there" when Doyle was dead last in a 2 man foot race in the 1st spell. Manny had only one moment where I went "good work" but he largely scares me cause he gets dragged around and out of central and is too rash to be relied upon. Fenton gets forward but looks gun shy, like he either needs the obvious space or wants a weak LB to run at. His 1st half last week was his best and seems to getting progressively worse (and worse is relative to that 1st 45 last week)

Riera was solid, Lia was solid, Roly has hit the ground running but he holds that ball on for too long and needs to release it (my only niggle with him). He gets 7 shades lumped out of him every week and still goes hard. McGlinchey has been OK for me and covers a lot of space laterally across the park. He is not producing what he did at CCM but I think he is in a different role where he is less central and gets the ball back to goal more. Krishna will be fine (nice finish), Powell is just a squady and Rodriquez has done nothing wrong in his 40 odd mins.

Sarpong looks short of a gallop and his touch seems less than what I would expect with a player of his calibre. It was wet and greasy tonight and all players struggled but have we seen anything that makes you say "he'll come right"? Last year Roly was poor in game one but game 2 we went "he's got something" but so far, Sarpong has not done the same. It could be just match fitness but I would have expected a couple of little things to just show his class. Kinda like Ifill when he was not fit. He still had little things where you went "he's good" and Sarpong is not showing that yet. I hope it's just a match fitness thing.

I think we look ok against what I think will be 2 of the bottom feeders this year. We dominated possession and stopped the other team from playing. Perth and Newcastle are poor in their own right but we made them look poor too by stopping them from playing. Can we do that to Victory and a surprisingly decent Brisbane? I suspect Victory will kill us with pace and defensive frailties and that game could be ugly.

It's encouraging so far based on these 2 weeks and I think the playoffs is the minimum cause there are definitely teams worse than us. I just think we have more to show and hope that we springboard from this trip cause if not, we will have a season of those games we shoulda won but only got a point.

Not a bad write up JV.

I thought about our defence- we're keeping the ball in the Perth 3rd and they're not having to do too much thank f-!

A little harsh on Doyle with the foot race thing- it was against Harold. But yes- what did he do differently against West Ham?

I think Doyle looks like a player that is playing hungover. You kinda go 'you produced that?' He does have talent but I think part of it is he is not a wing back. I personally think he would be a better CB and let Manny run. If you are playing LWB, you got haul ass to get back. He looks like he can't and took some ASBP options during this game and it's not like he was fantastic last week.

I'm a supporter of his primarily because I want to see him make it and not be hunting for a new LB in 5 months time.

I think the comments regarding Doyle and Fenton having poorish games is a little harsh. We conceeded once scrappy goal from a set piece away from home.

To me that sounds like a pretty decent day at the office, especially when little else was created.

Manny did better than expected and was not as rash as expected.

Rodriguez looked sharp when he came on, won a few balls (how tall is he, he has go go gadget legs) and looked to make telling passes. Had Lia not scored he may have been pushing for a start next week.

McG may be getting assists, but his missed header was poor and he seems to lack that little bit of pace needed to help him really get past his man.

Might just be me but...we dont ever seem very interested at throw ins....hardly anyone putting their hand up to recieve the ball, also corners......We didnt exactly attack any corners until late in the game, at times only 3 in the box compared to perth's 6 or 7 in fact on one corner we had three players in the centre centre seemingly marking each other whilst perth had all their players back to defend. That said we deserved to win but still a few issues for me with defence

I want him to be good too but last season he was making a goal-causing error once a half and this year he loses the ball every time he passes it.  By the end of the game he was just lumping it into the corner every time he got it.  His passing accuracy was 44%.  It's not working there for him

With Louis to me there looks like a slight technical issue.  When he cuts inside he doesn't attack the defender on the inside chancel. He cuts right in field and ends up moving laterally across the pitch.  Players are just showing him inside and he's running inside and then often passes backwards.  I think he needs clearer instructions for how to play his position.  I'd like to see him wider (he is often 5-10 yards inside the touchline) and also prepared to take players on both inside and outside.

Considering we dominated against Newcastle and dominated against Perth, I don't think the cracks are all that big.

I'm mostly worried about defence, but I'm hoping that by the end of the season a Danaskos or Fox will be eased in and perform well.

What are you lot on about Ernie isn't worried in fact he thinks the defence has done okay and he is happy with it. Also says Jeffrey has done all right.

Cutting back frequently could also be a rope-a-dope tactic. As in- we all think he's going to cut back and then he makes a run to the by-line. I think when there is a better understanding between the front line he'll be able to slot in better also.

Doyle isn't that quicky or good with his feet or that's how it would seem. He seems to be quite good at putting balls in from the top of the box, or at least more comfortable doing that.
