You do get the odd drop up your way.  But in the space of two hours it's still a decent dumping.  Might need a bucket hat.

I just heard on the radio over here that some bloke at Hutt Rec conducted a test on the lights to see if they were strong enough for a night game, during the day....

Please confirm or deny.

If you have been here in Summer you'd realise that testing them during the day is practically the same as testing them at night.

1 inch of rain. Hmmmmmm Bring soap (Organically biodegradeable) for shirts off time, kill two birds with one stone and an act of conservation, saving our water resources!

It is OK to test at daylight, light is simple math, you measure the lux with the lights OFF and then switch the lights ON and measure it again and the new values should be 1500 lux more to be TV safe.

In these current gales, I wouldn't even lift the lights off the ground. Swinging around in a strong window will make the light dance all over the place or worse, the chain that looks quite flimsy snap.

Hutt Rec 1987. All Whites beat Australia after heavy rain. Soccer Express centre spread "Kiwis walk on water!":

Photo from the centre spread showing Mike McGarry being challenged by a splashing puddle and Alan Davidson.

I am sure that the surface will be fine. I watched the final of the men's club Rugby there last season and the pitch was bone dry after heavy rain all week and three finals games for different grades being played on the pitch that day.

The wind however, is a different story but we will cope with it better than Adelaide. So in summary wind & rain  = Win.

Yeah, that All Whites match was an early September game and I don't recall Wellington having water restrictions at the time!

at what point is it measured?  If at ground in broad daylight I doubt it would show 1500 Lux difference.  Different from measuring at desktop in an office fir instance.

I live under 2 kms away from the Hutt Rec.  My report as of 10:13am is blue sky in every direction, bright sunshine, birds chirping, a few clouds but very gusty winds.  Oh and hopefully 3 points.

If the weather bomb hits, it's going to be a Sharknado experience! I'm going to the game, but I can honestly say I'm not looking forward to the elements as there is zero protection from the weather...@ Hutt Rec

I like to think of it as the wind, the rain, and the Phoenix ... in that order.

So far, so good.
