So, my assumption that she might be better in the flesh than online is misguided?

Probably, but at least I've got less flesh than most of you.

About to take the field in the Auckland camogie final. The result may determine if I come tonight angry and spoiling for a fight, so wish me luck for your own sake.

Everyone complaining about the lack of marketing, but would marketing have actually made a difference? The team is shark, everyone knows that, so what's the point in throwing money at marketing when nobody is going to show up anyway?

Sarcasm, or just being pathetic? I really can't tell any more!

The post from Patrick sums up why so many people think that the Yellow fever have lost its way.

Yellow Fever has lost its way because one person on the forum doesn't think buying billboards makes a significant difference to crowds? What?

Allegedly

I'm not so sure it definitively says anything. Phoenix are the 3rd option in terms of events in Auckland this weekend, behind the black caps and races. Not really an ideal case example to be used against taking games to Auckland.

But the poor crowd at Mt Smart last time was a bit of a worry (although even then I suspect that is because it was played in the wrong region of Auckland)

Lol. Love to know where the right region of Auckland might be. Where your aunty lives?

Mt Smart is better for most people in Auckland than Albany.

What's the food like at North Harbour Stadium these days? Will be in a rush and trying to decide if I can risk not eating anything beforehand. Don't want to be stuck with the choice of soggy hot chips or a week old pie.

A win here and it sets up a great confrontation with the WSW next week. Long-suffering Pheonix fans deserve a bit of a climax to the season. Heck, we laid down and died this time last year.

Spain '82 is where it all really began for me. There were a few moments before, plenty of moments after, but that World Cup was the zeitgeist.

Well, it went to extra time, but Harps GAC are Auckland camogie champs, so you guys get HAPPY drunk D rather than ANGRY drunk D. Rejoice!

Just the usual excuses that come out whenever there is a little bit of criticism directed towards the backroom staff of the 'Nix.

I'm not sure if advertising would make much of a difference - all I know is that it certainly wouldn't hurt. Sustained advertising is not necessarily just to get a crowd along for this game - but it's just to raise general awareness. Get another 1000 watching it on TV, another 500 to the game, potentially another 200 or so fans that stick with the team through thick and thin..

Whether that's worth it - who knows? But it's worth a discussion.

Thanks, will pre-load with the Irish girls and hope to be there by kickoff. (Not that I deserve to drink since I was an unused sub but screw it.)

True, but it costs money. Do a cost/benefit analysis.

I feel like for the position we are currently in - precariously on the side of a cliff with the FFA ready to prod us off - we need to throw a bit of caution to the wind. It's like if you're 2-1 down in the 4th minute of extra time. Get the fudgeing goalkeeper up - it likely won't work, but we might as well try.

But we're not. We're a couple of goals down but it's only injury time in the first half, to use your metaphor: i.e. we have 2 more years after this more or less guaranteed. Welnix are not made of money. No-one is except Clive Palmer.

And even a Mr/Ms Moneybags doesn't guarantee success.

The FFA can put their minds to other matters before they dis the 'Nix.

Although this little fracas was overplayed by the media, it's still a depressing reality at games involving the league's glamour clubs:

It's unheard of at games involving Wellington, home or away, no? This type of media reporting has always done so much damage to the game's reputation in Australia.

'Billionaire" Clive Palmer is down to his last 2M in cash and shares according to the Australian Newspaper a few weeks ago.

Probably because not many people go to Wellington games..If we had 20,000 crowds every game, then there would be a larger contingent of idiots.

Tonight's line up, players stood down last week don't make it back onto the field. Sees Fox for Rossi and Ridenton moves back for Tratt and Finkler comes into the midfield.

Don't forget this!

Vince Lia is turning 10 years old, and the Fever want to give you a chance to play in his testimonial match!

In conjunction with the Phoenix, we've got 1 playing spot in the match available to give away, and we've decided to use it as a fundraiser to top up the Fever Dreams account for next season and beyond.

For every $5 you donate, you'll get an entry into the draw to win a seat for you and a friend at the Yellow Fever table at the testimonial dinner. And for every $25 you donate, you'll be in with a chance to win a playing spot in the testimonial match, taking the field alongside Phoenix legends Paul Ifill, Andrew Durante and Daniel, as well as many others.

https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/vinnystesty/

Even if you're not able to donate, get down to David Farrington Park on the 11th of March to say thanks to Vinnie and his 10 years of service to the Phoenix!
