Dont get why people think it's okay for players to be made to stay away from home while this stuff is going on. Playing behind closed doors dosnt guarante they cant get it.

Australian pay TV would probably rather a few hundred spectators and a couple of players die than lose their precious teevee income

Staggering that someone could be so bloody selfish, gets tested in Oz then jumps on a plane to NZ. FKN dickhead

It is selfish, but who knows the full circumstances. Sounds like his son was already in NZ. By far the majority of tests are returning a negative result, and lets face it in NZ & Oz we have a huge (often admired) culture of 'she'll be right/won't happen to me'.

But this is exactly why Govts are closing borders. Individuals can't be trusted.

My rough maths says that by the time, the A League round is completed through what would have been FIFA international window (ie round Nix have the bye) - all the teams will have played near the same amount of games, ie 22. That might be a good time to suspend the league, if of course not before.

See families of Warriors players not happy about them being stuck in Oz.

Not sure any  circumstances  can be okay for him travelling. If reports are correct he tested in Oz before travelling but did he go into self islolation no seems he thought he was all good to go out and about. DICKHEAD. Dont blame Warriors families for being PO. All the media I have seen from the NRL all they have spoken about is money nothing at all about player welfare.

Should be able to keep the league going in Australia as long as nobody in the teams including staff get infected. Will have to try some force some strictness onto players about their activities to protect them from getting infected. Sucks for us though.

Um no..sucks for them and families that they are potentially put in a position like this when the League should say we stop..then clubs can say yeahah and so can everyone else and its lockdown.  Its just a game.  COYN for 2nite then take abreak.

This is unfortunately the argument for closing the borders completely. Enough people are idiots and can't be relied upon to follow the guidance. Gonna be an expensive hotel bill for the numpty.

And, yeah, I'm with Ifill and others above - suspend the league and make another call in a month or so if it's possible or practical to start up again.

Not everyone will follow the guidelines, but you'd hope that *most* will; which will still severely lessen the impact.

Anyway, I love the Nix, I love football - but if the A-League isn't going to front up and do what is right, I have no problems with the Nix forfeitting all remaining games and staying in NZ.

A lot of them are earning enough to fly their families over if they want, or maybe club could assist with such things as well.

There are possible circumstances for my job where I'd have to leave New Zealand for a period.

You're right it does suck I guess though, whole thing does.

Australia is now enforcing a 14 day self isolation period starting midnight tonight. Unless the Victory and Phoenix are racing off to the airport immediately after the game it seems like neither team will feature for the next few rounds.

Surely this means the postponement of the league.

Let’s not boo Victory or the refs - they’re here knowing they face a crap time upon returning to Aussie. Let’s not make a shyt situation worse.

As much as I'd love a big Nix win before an indefinite postponement, common sense about public safety must come first

Flights out of Wellington tonight look to be completely booked out as everyone tries to beat the rush back across the ditch before restrictions kick in.

I hope we win though, would be a good way to finish the season!

I doubt we'll see the Phoenix again this season, as much as that pains me to say it. Let's make today a good one.

COYN!

Domey just told Narelle Sindos in the pre game that most likely scenario is to be based in Sydney for the forseeable future; at player's discretion.

Sounds like Victory are trying to get out tonight, originally they were to leave tomorrow morning. How this unfolds will be interesting - Will only have an hour or two to spare, if that...

If only most of the flights are booked, could get one of the flights that aren't fully booked? I'm not sure how many seats may or may not be available.

They might get a charter flight. But more likely they get special allowance of some sort.

It would the same for Victory if their flight home missed the deadline.

Its not a quarantine, self isolation doesn't mean being locked in your room. They might be able to play football in Australia.

This is awesome.

Such a shame that the league disruptions in whatever form are happening at such a bad time for us. In several seasons I would've loved for it to be suspended!

Decent half. Piscopo still a bit weak on the ball, sub for Sotirio. And Rufer for Cammy before he gets himself sent off.

Look completely in control though.

Piscopo's been OK. Got annoyed with him for trying something clever instead of playing the easy lay off to an overlapping Libby, which ended up putting us under extreme pressure. But he's been a livewire otherwise and has been part of some very good attacking moves, and that header for Davilla's goal was excellent.
