KIWI referee Peter O'Leary will hang up his whistle after Friday night's A-League game between the Wellington Phoenix and Central Coast Mariners at Westpac Stadium.

Guess we have O'Leary tomorrow night then

Hope the Zone can clap him off the field after the game. Best referee this country has ever produced.

So he doesn't have to worry about being assessed now...Use his last game to gift us 3 points?

Would be the only time he's ever favoured a Kiwi team tbf.

Three for me, and two for them.

Last chance for him to fudge us over yet again proving to Australians he isn't  biased towards us. He never was but he was harder against us than he was against the Australian sides.

Refereeing in NZ has had some very good times in the last decade. From Paul Smith going to the first WC as a Kiwi in 2002, then Mike Hester and Jan Hintz in 2010 and now Peter O'Leary along with Mark Rule and Jan again in 2014.

By rights, none of those guys should have gotten there because of our place in the football population but they did because they were outstanding at what they did.

For me Peter was always that guy whom was so far ahead of everyone else that I just looked on in awe as to how he did it. Even when I got to that FIFA level, literally every game with Pete I learnt 7 or 8 new things and here was I at the same level with him. The thing is, those little things I learned were always such simple simple things but made the game a lot easier. He was never a man that put himself above you cause he was 'the man' - he was always inclusive and made you feel at ease because he was an easy going guy that had humour, a laugh and a smile and never took himself too seriously, only the task at hand and the 2 short blacks 5 mins apart. Retirement well-earned to spend time with his family

I know he has earned some ire over the years in this forum but I would hope that at the end of the game, people would clap him off just once in recognition for what he has achieved in football.

Chris Kerr what a load of bull, All Peter Oleary took to the pitch was his school teacher attitude. Mike Hester was light years ahead of O'Leary hes disliked by most players.

It was Peter O'Leary that gave us a penalty against WSW at home that many did not think was.  At the time I thought it was a good decision, even allowing for bias.  If Peter was so determined not to be seen to be supporting us he could have not given it.  No one would have blamed him.  I have seen a lot worse not given, even this season.

Sure he has made lots of mistakes that we have given him stick for.  But what referee in this league has not?  Let us be fair here.

But tonight is not about Peter.  It is about us getting a much needed 3 points.  So COYN.  But win lose or draw, I am not a referee but will salute the dedication and committment that Peter O'Leary has made to our sport and will clap him off at the end win, lose or draw.

i have to confess I missed both the recent losses, and only saw half the draw last week. First ones of the season I have not been able to watch.

By giving my full attention to the game tonight, I am certain of a healthy victory.

I'm definitely out because of work commitments - I had hoped to at least watch the game at home but it looks like I might not even be able to check the score...

Go hard!
