mature performance
R27 vs Perth Glory | Wednesday 22nd July | 9.30pm
the best I can say is it should give the team a massive mental boost knowing they can hold a win.
aside from that I don't know what the fudge I just watched for the last 25 minutes.
Heraf ball - its ok to play it when you have a lead.
Hard watch in the last half hour. Given we had one more day than Perth since the last game, why were our legs the more wooden?
Great run from Hoops to get in front of the defender, amazing strength to hold him off and fabulous technique to find the back of the net while off balance.
Much better shift from Davilla this week. Back to what we expect from him.
McCowatt has earned his place in the starting lineup. MOTM?
Another good shift from Ball.
We will miss Steinmann next week.
The "wooden legs" were not the only reason, it was also to do with the way Poppa adjusted his team halfway through the second half (after they've conceded the penalty). He is a good tactician and almost managed to pull off his Plan B.
For us, Piscopo coming off marked again a change in performance. For the second week running, it was plain to see how important he is for us, working with Ball down the middle.
Piscopo is an interesting player... creates good space, plays at a high tempo, but also provides a higher rate of turnover ball.
2-0 up and looking at controlling the game I can understand the change for someone more possession assured, although I don't know if Sotorio is the guy for that.

2 nil up, you go more defensive in your approach. Sotorio bring fast fresh legs is the perfect choice. Nothing wrong with Uffi tactics.
I think we had to many touches and lost the ball in the middle and that's why Perth came back.

Piscopo is the only player we have of that type in the team, except maybe Davila but he's better centrally - someone who is confident enough every time they get the ball to try and take on their marker. He's always positive. If you don't have a high turnover rate as a winger, you're probably not really doing your job anyway. Most good wingers try these things 10 times, 8 won't work, 2 will and those 2 might result in goals. It's worth it.

I'd add McCowatt to that list. All three have been impressive driving forward from deep with the ball at feet.
I keep watching his (mccowatt) hustle and pass to hooper, absolutely pin point.
Alot of credit due to Hopper also. He had a lot of work to do. How good is it having a striker of his quality.
