This is our new attacking away policy? Hope it works, but it doesn't seem like we are planning to try to take advantage of the makeshift Melbourne rear guard in the first shift.

Think that Doyle is possibly just as good as either option on the flank in this game. Maybe with an eye to Friday?

Team list is out on FB - a few changes.  Lia and Fenton in, Brockie and Doyle on bench.  4-3-3.

So we have 4 central midfielders starting - Riera, Rodriguez, Roly, and Lia - how is this going to work?

Roly up front

Derp, I read the team list but didn't look at the formations down the bottom...

Hmmmm, still think it's odd to take a guy who's been getting better and better in one role and then ask him to play a different role. Hopefully it's a masterstroke from Ernie!

EDIT: of course, that's assuming that we actually play as we are lined up on the teamsheet

You'd have to think they'll play more like 442.

Hope ernie has reminded Manny to keep his elbows to himself

i think that is an odd starting line up. I cant see how Fenton is better than Doyle, he has never shown to be as a good defender as Doyle in any outing. And starting Lia, just seems a step backwards. but in ernie we trust....

Lia, Gorrin, and Riera in the middle - good luck Melbourne getting past that lot/

Im not sure Fenton v Doyle is gonna make a lot of difference, but if we are tight in midfield then Fenton will offer more going forward.

Interesting line up, who is to say it wont work

The difference between 4-3-3 and 4-5-1 is just semantics for me. Whether you call your wingers attacking or midfield players they will probably play the same way.

If we had wingers I would agree re the formation....in Burns we do but not Weemac or Roly..so its a hold them with 5 in the middle then counter attack fast.  Very strange with Roly but again it was foreshadowed in the media this morning...

No natural wingers, so more a 4-2-2-2, or Magic Rectangle formation if you will. I think Manuel Pelligrini had Chile playing that for a while?

It worked for me on FM08 with Atletico Madrid once ;)

Either i suck bad at fm or the only way to win is a 4-3-3, which more looks like a 4-1-1-3-1 (otherwise i lose regardless)

Manny to the left to handle Kosta, Lia in to help handle the best attack in the league, Fenton to provide some of the width we lose with Burns going central, the forward impetus we lose bringing in Lia and so we have a natural right back.

All makes sense, in Ernie I trust.

You know we belong together...

average 3.5 goals per game..we will take the 3.

Roly as striker might work aka Stein being able to hold the ball once it gets in final third and let supporting players come up...
