The "Metrics" Derby?

The "Soon-to-be North Sydney vs Soon-to -be South Sydney" Derby?

Against my team!

Don't worry, our owner does not care about results.

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2015/10/28/...

But we'll be entertaining!

In all seriousness, it will be an entertaining game and the Nix will probably score the winner in the last 10.

Good luck to you but I hope we win.

To be honest the Mariners have been getting pretty good crouds of late - better than ours.

A few thousand visting fans does make it easier to do that.

Looks like we need an airline sponsor for The Nix, to get a deal to boost the numbers of opposition fans coming to NZ, and maybe for us going across if we're keen.

"Get a cheaper seat if you show your $50 Phoenix guest membership number" - that would apply to opposition fans too!

We should get Qantas to sponsor us, that way the FFA has to piss off a major Aussie company to drop us.

So they won't like AirNZ sponsorship then. Although I have a solution.

Qantas owns a large stake in Air Fiji (something like 49% with the fijian government owning 51%) and we already have a relationship with them. So we get Air fiji sponsorship, it works fine as long as the team doesn't mind transiting in Nadi :P

Do they always fly Qantas does anyone know? If its subsidised then it kind of puts pay to the argument that flights cost too much.

Even better.  So if they drop us then the FFA will piss off a major sponsor.  And major sponsors give them money, and that's the metric the FFA uses, so the Nix will have IMMUNITY.

Except if you have 5 teams in Melbourne and 5 teams in Sydney, half your away games will cost $5 in gas.  That's got to be cheaper than subsidised flights.

That explains the push for more derbies!  Hardly any airfare expense then.

If they get South Sydney into the A-League, FFA should get Uber to sponsor them....

Not a big enough sample size for home games this season to draw conclusions yet. Last year their crouds were dreadful

Vincenzo Lia has been playing well, I think. He's a loss, no doubt, especially considering A-Rod had a poor pre-season injury wise and has been slowly easing back into it. Who knows how he'll go starting and if he'll suffer another occurrence of that injury.

Who would be the next cab off the rank of A-Rod goes down? Rufer?

Riera would probably drop back with Rufer or Ridenton coming in. Fenton and Gulley also options.

Whatever you can say about Vince's shortcomings, he is a tough customer and does not shrink away from a tackle. I cannot see anyone in that mould taking his spot.  Fenton is no Lia.  We may get a decent chance against the Mariners with guys like Rodriguez and maybe Ridenton but it is the game against Adelaide (with some AWs away) that will test our squad depth. I would expect Ernie shopping around for a temporary midfield cover for two months.

We need Manny at the RB position way more than we need him as DM.

We also need someone to fill the DM SPOT, which Manny has shown he can do in the past, we also have someone who fits into the RB position in Fenton, who may do well after a week not making the starting XI. CCM would be the game to test if this could work until Lia is match fit again.

Won't we loose Fenton or Doyle to the all whites?

A-Rod in for Lia.

The timing of the AWs game and our next home game after the licence shark is really unfortunate.

As I said in the ownership thread, Hudson should just not pick any Nix players for the Oman game. Right now a friendly for the AWs is way less important for the future of football in this country than the Nix getting positive results and bringing crouds back week after week.

Also, the A League should have a fudgeing break for internationals. Otherwise youre punishing team for having international players in their squads. Apparently that was part is part of whyJanko left Sydney - they didn't want to pay for a marquee who missed crucial games because he was a current international

Players shouldn't be out for this game though, its the next game on the 13th that they will be gone for I think. They can fly out after the game against CCM.

We lose Doyle, Fenton, McGlinchey, Rufer and Rogerson. Of those only Doyle, Fenton and Weemac are starters.

Krishna turned down playing for Fiji against Vanuatu so he could play against the Mariners and the Fiji management were fine with this.

http://www.radionz.co.nz/international/pacific-new...

However I cant see NZF being quite so accommodating if our Kiwi boys did the same thing for the friendly against Oman. Will just have to see how close of a bond NZF and the Phoenix really have.

Yeah, the Oman friendly is really essential to our International cause. Who arranges these games that are always away. Junket trip for Hudson? Good to see the  NZF supporting the  Nix in this way. NOT. A whole pointless waste of time exercise and money.
